Need help picking our Kitchen chair- new kitch pics attached

We need to decide ASAP between these 2 chairs. Kitchen is "traditional" in style. Table is long rectangle. We will have 6 chairs (1 on each end and then 2 on each side)

Use your imagination b/c pics dont show true chairs.- only shows style of chairs

The dark- rich brown colored chair is the correct color- No matter which chair we choose- the chair will be that dark brown to match the kitchen island. The entire seat on either chair would be that color WOOD- (not fabric).

Which chair style do you like better for the kitchen? Really look at the top/back of the chair- the design.. which do you like.

Both will be dark brown, with dark wood seats (not fabric) and both would have the legs that are swival- as seen on the dark brown chair. (not the legs on the light wood)

Both chairs will look like this in the front-- and both will have the dark color wood on the seat.

love the darker chair, it's more interesting. i also think it matches the style of your kitchen way better.

Sweetbean I just went through this in our small 11'x11' DR that was largely over furnished with a lot of "this n that" - part of our entire home reno was out with it ALL! Yea DR set, 2 sideboards - one that matched the set, on that was a beast & did not - a PIANO , a beautiful built in I searched, searched , searched - DON"T give up - You will find a table/chairs I scoured all ads, and Craigslist - what I found were LOTS of DR Sets - I'm close to NYC and found people giving high quality sets away - I think people are moving away from formal DRs blowing kitchens into DRs So my advice is don't settle - live without and enjoy the hunt I did. I found a Duncan Phyfe Mahogany set which is really what I wanted - our house dutch col 1930 so it suited the home as well as the small scale of our DR - it was dirty, dirty dirty - I'm still working on cleaning waxing -It is really well made & found incredible fabrics on ebay that were really reasonable - so they will get a big face lift. The owners were asking $2,200 for the set - DR table, 4 side chairs, 2 arms - mirror ,sideboard, and tall china cab I didn't want the china cab (we have lovely built in) got them to $1300 Dh thought i was crazy - wait til he sees it in DR Here is a pic in the prior owners DR In my almost completed DR chair w/proposed fabric sitting on it Guess I wanted to inspire you - I know the furnishings aren't your choice but to illustrate they are out there - get on a mission Link to craigslist good luck eileen Here is a link that might be useful: Craigslist

Yes, in a small kitchen that is visible from other rooms, carrying the same floor through into the kitchen will make it seem more spacious and all-of-a-piece. I'd add another suggestion, if you'd like to consider it. I would paint the lower cabinets in a rich brown/bronze - the darkest tone in your new countertops would be a good choice - and leave the upper ones white. I also wouldn't add surface molding to unpaneled doors...they collect dirt, and ease of cleaning is probably something you want in a full life. Since your kitchen is visible from both sides, dark lower cabinets on a wood floor will feel more like furniture in a room that is part of the whole house. And for that same reason, I would consider carrying the wall color from your family room or dining room into the kitchen as well, to bring the spaces together. You could also use the wallcolor on the upper cabinets in a satin finish, if you want to fully integrate the kitchen into the plan.

Hi, I see something maybe green tone on tone delicate and sprawling. In other words it would look like the design carries on behind the upper cabinets and shelves (all you have to do is cut and continue) and peeks out a little at the top and maybe a bit moving on to the next wall. Tone on tone will just add a little interest without looking like too much. You could have a small amount of sprig carrying on to the next wall but you may find that you would want to cut and remove some fullness of the design. You could use a white or gray decal if you wanted to be a bit bolder but it could look busy if it is not a delicate design. I love the look of your kitchen the way it is and don't think you need to do too much. Sometimes a touch of whimsy does it when you want a change. The great thing about decals is that you can change it out. If you are feeling very brave you could get the next shade darker in your wall color and paint something on. There are vids on youtube to show how to do this I think. For skinny branches it's a matter of a good little brush and turning the brush with your finger tips while dragging in order to get a good look. You could even mix some glaze with the paint for an opaque look (my fav). There are many ideas you can get off google search but I personally would keep it simple delicate and sprawling and maybe just swap out the two white dishes on your shelf for something with some contrasting color. I wouldn't change anything else because your kitchen is sooo nice the way it is.

Both Chairs will be the darker color-- so just look at the style of the back of the chair- which one do you like better?

I find the chair in the darker colour much more interesting, the other one is nice too but rather plain. Darker one also looks sturdier. Be sure to check how much space you have between the table legs, the darker one looks like it has a much wider seat than the lighter one.

Yes i was conserned about that-- The lighter one is the standard 18 inches-- and we are putting 2 on the one side-- the darker one is 20 inches (so total adding 4 inches)-- The table itself is 64 inches long-- so we have sufficient room--

Worried the darker one (which DH loves) is too formal? Is it too stuffy for a kitchen? And will it enhance the rest of the kitchen or take away from it and become the focus?

The style shown in the darker wood will look better with the style of your kitchen (in my opinion). The slat back style is more casual, Shaker or Craftsman style. Pretty kitchen!

My vote is for the style of the darker chair. Love your kitchen. I don't think they are too formal and certainly not too stuffy for your beautiful kitchen.

OK DH is happy I just called the kitchen store and switched to the darker fancier chair! lol-- Wish i could have made him happy earlier today- he says i listen to all of you before I listen to him - uggg... thank you !!! you girls are the best.

I just saw this post, and so my opinion comes too late to matter. I love that the chairs will be dark finish with the wood seats.

I would have been the dissenter here. I like the lighter colored chair style better in your space. The simplicity of the vertical lines works with the panels in the cabinetry. Also, I think the center carved area of the darker chair looks kind of incomplete - like the piece was cut out but not rounded and finished.

But, on the other hand, the twisted legs don't go with the lighter colored chair at all, so if you were sold on that leg style no matter what, then it is better than you chose the chair that you did.

Please be sure to post pix when you have your chairs and table in place - it is always nice to see the finished product!

Crescent- Absolutly- The set is by Canadel.
Go to Dinette Set LTD (521 Bustleton Pike Feasterville, PA-- Phone 215-322-4260) Owners name is Russell. He is FABULOUS! I had bought a table there years ago and once again he proved that my 50 minute drive was well worth it-- He was WELL below the competitors. He is a family owned business. From the outside the store doesn't look like much but inside he's got a great selection and he is super helpful. If you are going i would suggest booking an appt time with him so you get his full attension. He was so helpful with us.

We even ordered stools that are Oil Rubbed Bronze look and it did have some wood on the top. I was very conserned b/c i didn't like the wood color. He said if i paid for the stain ($40)--- he would order it from Canadel and send it tot he stool company and they would use that stain on the stools... how cool is that. Great customer service!!

Good luck and THANK YOU EVERYONE-- we revised the order today and we are going with the dark brown chairs (that have trully grown on me as something different--) I think i chose the other one b/c it was "safe" lol.... and i've been risky up to now so why change that!! lol (ie granite, caesarstone, and 2 different colored cabients) lots of risk- i was looking for the easy way out!
