Need Help with Roof Color

I have a traditional dutch colonial revival home with a gambrel roof. I am preparing to have the roof replaced. The house is white painted cedar and has navy blue shutters. It is in a beach town along the shores of Lake Michigan. While I am fairly committed to keeping the house white with navy shutters, I am considering changing the roof color from its traditional black asphalt shingle. I'm thinking the black may be too "heavy" considering the conspicuous nature of a gambrel roof. On another note, I'm considering painting the door a color other than white.

I'm working with contractors who recommend Certainteed Landmark Shingles, Owens Coring and GAF. Recommendations have varied, from Landmark driftwood to more pure gray tones to the existing black. One online color consultant recommended Landmark Atlantic Blue - but I'm a little concerned about a roof with blue tones, as it may be a little too unconventional? Has anyone worked with colored roofs such as Atlantic Blue?

I would appreciate any advice offered.
