UPDATE: Secret Santa Cards Rec'd and games ( thread 4)
Comments (158)Me too! I got 7 cards today. My first day I received them. Jodie(Jodie74) sent me plenty of zinnia and gaillardia seeds Lisa(pumpkingal) sent me zinnia orange, gaillardia, black eyed susans and daisy (what a nice selection) Angelu(yotetrapper) sent me moon & stars watermelon and jarrahdale pumpkin (I have to look these up - am excited for these) Iris(rane_grow) - fanfare blanket flower Lynn(fearadun) - gaillardia (red/yellow), mutant marigold, calendula (unique card) Ellie(farmergirl) - canna , zinnia and gaillardia Katie(redthreaddiy) - canna, balloon flower and gaillardia (I will check out your website soon - I like that you put what type it is in your own seed packet like half - hardy - I think I messed up some seeds before due to that) I'm excited to start wintersowing. I thank you so much for the nice cards and seeds. I will attach all these cards to my wall... Thank you Kym for setting this up. It involves a lot of time to organize this. I will have various zinnias and gaillardia. =-) Hope they will flower the first year. Michelle...See MoreAway with Decorations and onto New Years
Comments (32)We took ours down Wed. Friends had a party on New Year's Eve and they still had theirs up. It was a couples with kids party. Lots of good food and some wine by the fire. Very Nice. I hope to get my fireplace one day. I always think of my mother while taking down our decorations. My Mom loved Christmas, so much so that one year they left the Christmas tree up until May! I was horrified! I rode the school bus and the other kids laughed to see in in the window. I only wish she was still here. I would encourage her to keep it up all year round now if she wanted to. Christmas is a time for us to remember family, friends and traditions from the past and to make new ones too. I wish for everyone a safe, healthy and prosperous new year!...See MoreAnyone out there renovating through December?
Comments (44)Redroze, It's never ending and we started a year ago. Kitchen backsplash, painting of moulding trim, curtains, lighting room fixtures still need to be selected. Our house has great bones but nothing was done to it which is a good thing. We got it under asking price in our preferred neighbourhood in the hot market of 2007. But we've burned through our reno budget and have decided NOT to use credit. So we're taking our time. Doors have been replaced, pocket doors handles installed....I've been living with masonite board covering the ugly gap that was our coal burning fireplace. We just had our gas insert installed last week - love it - but my BF now needs to build the mantle (and he did an incredible amount of work installing the new hearth and getting the old fireplace cavity ready for the insert.) I'm planning spending my Christmas break painting - finally settled on LR and master bedroom colours:) Takes awhile.. Redroze - even with our unfinished state we still had our big bash in summer and we still have get togethers with friends and family. We, too, want to replace our current DR table with a bigger one, but decided to spend money finishing our fireplace first, for greater impact. It didn't stop us from hosting a large Thanksgiving dinner - my BF BUILT a rough table to attach to our current one, and we just hid it under a large table cloth and used folding chairs for the extra chairs!...See MoreShows Us Your Gardens - a Photo Thread - November 2015
Comments (38)Took these today. It's been mild so far, but somehow I am guessing that things will be very different in a month or two...... The little red mums come back year after year, but the daffodils sprouting surprised me. The large-pad prickly pear cactus is loaded with fruit now. The pads are 10 inches long and the fruits are about 5. There are two photos of my yellow Knockout rose, still with a few flowers and one shows the hips. The foliage of the oak-leaf hydrangea is always a great color in fall. The last one is a mum that I've had for years. It blooms early, thrives on neglect, and best of all has a very large flower for a hardy mum, about 4-5 inches in diameter. Not shown are my camellia Snow Flurry (but posted in another post here) and the lavender, still going string, and a few flowers on my ice plants (delosperma)....See More- 9 years ago
