Comments (17)Karyn, I read that they have a strong scent, I hope at least in my cooler region they will be. But they are still pretty and I want butterflies! The pink delight has a really big flower for this plant. And some silver foliage on top of the leaf. I have the varieties below, and I just found out that her seeds are from her own garden which is open pollinated...ouch. I wanted to blend certain colors together without over doing a particular color, I guess that might be out of the question. I buy from Josie every year so I'm sure she's being as honest as she can. Kyle is a handsome young man, may he grow into a prince. I have a gimme gimme gimme attack everytime I see other's plants or hear about them. It's funny to me now, as I've never cared much for other people's things but some reason, a garden is not a garden until you have everything you want...which always changes...lol. I seriously had a heck of a time dealing with coveting (unrequited desire and dampered satisfaction) at first but I've got a grip on it now...lol...thank God! Back to knowing 'want' is not that important. But I NEED more garden space...lol. Ingrid, so sorry to hear you're own gardening space is so limited, I hope you can find a place with room for your hobby. That's if you want to. Things just might be working well where you are. May God Bless you All - Sandy Here is a link that might be useful: 7 Varieties...See MoreRandom stuff
Comments (5)Susie, I'm also glad you're going to take some deep breathes & sit on any estate decisions. Once you start something of that nature it's hard to put the genie back in the bottle, so to speak. I'm not sure what you mean exactly by a neighborhood watch? We use that name for our program here on the penninsula. There are about 20 homes & 3 marinas. The biggest ongoing responsibility is attending the various town meetings (zoning, planning, historical, emergency planning, conservation, budgetary, etc.) We choose 3 people to attend each meeting & provide a brief written summary to everybody on the penninsula. There's ALWAYS something that happend that doesn't make it onto our town's website. We've also installed these gadgets that monitor our heaters & flash a red light in a window should power be lost. The light notifies neighbors to check on that particular house. About 3/4 of our homes are unoccupied during the winter but are not winterized 'cause the owners show up from time to time for a weekend or holiday. Knock on wood, we don't have a crime issue so we don't do much in that regard except keep our eyes open especially in the summer when our population swells due to the marinas. But, since they all know that it's largely us full time residents that watch the boats during the winter they treat us & our penninsula with respect. We do have semi-annual meeting, one in February & one in September. For the next two years, they'll be a lot going on around here because our town is undergoing a major "beautification" project that will play havoc on traffic, shopping, emergency vehicle response issues, etc. We've all waited years for this though so we're excited. My random stuff is that I'm having another intramuscular EMG done next Tuesday in NY & I'm worried about the results both for my family & myself. /tricia...See MoreRandom funny stuff
Comments (19)I liked the healthy, weighty women and the shortened lives of men who mentioned the weight. The New Yorker runs a caption-less cartoon contest. Recently it showed two men at a table in a restaurant. One man is looking above the other's head at a falling block of cement that's about to land on his companion. The winning caption has the about-to-be-hit man saying, "I told my ex I'd take her back if she dumped some weight."...See MoreRandom Compost Stuff
Comments (14)Few (if any) wild critters would lay an egg the size of a chicken egg. Ducks and geese, but a snake/lizard/etc. would have much smaller eggs. I had a snake nest at my country place last year. Little hole in the ground about 4" deep with white bits scattered around it. They had hatched and slithered away, leaving the thin flexible leathery shells behind. Kinda looked like Ping-Pong ball material only not as brittle. Snakes are cool. We have a bunch of different ones out there in our oak and hickory woods, none of them venomous. I always say hello and watch them do their thing....See Moreluvncannin
