Didn't know what else to title it LOL!!!

The dreaded day has arrived and the wee little pups must have their little nip tuck tomorrow.

I kicked around the idea of breeding but as long as I am still working albeit part time, I would not be able to commit to the process 100%.

So I have to take them in this afternoon by 5 pm. The surgery will be very early tomorrow morning. I can pick up Apollo on Friday and Abbee on Saturday.

I spoke to a estate consultant in regards to the family issues. They said it would be a rough road tracking paperwork to confirm my suspicions about my brother.

I would have to open a claim against the estate so a judge could order a forensic accountant to oversee all the funds from the past 5 yrs.

So after some thought I decided to wait until after the house sells to open this can of worms.

Its funny because I thought I was all alone in this and here something similar happened to a co-worker. Geez!!

Lastly I recently added a video of Amys dance team on facebook. Can not believe she will be graduating in May!!

She will be home for Thanksgiving break and I can't wait!!

cheers to you too susie, letting go of the estate issue for now might make you gain a better perspective in the long run. I wish you luck with that.

Did you mean for us to continue this thread by including our own random stuff? We did that on the decorating forum and it was kind of fun, but I would not want to highjack your thread.

Absolutely plz everyone join in!

I just wanted to give a quick update on the family thing....so many times you see a question or someone asks for advice and you never hear the outcome.

So I took the wee small pups and it just broke my heart!!
I felt so bad leaving them there but logistically it was the only option. I am now waiting to hear from the vet to see how they made out.
Abbee also needed one more shot plus she is having the microchip done too....poor little thing!!

Now before I forget again....Frank and I joined the town watch. Its only about 15 people so far and its been interesting.
Does anyone else here do a town watch because I have a ton of questions LOL!!

Teacats, funny you mention my daughter's room as a sanctuary-all day yesterday I kept thinking how as a teen, I would have loved to have something like what we were creating! I never had a room of my own growing up; there were six kids so it just wasn't possible. I can remember trying desperately to carve out some private space in our laundry room and once in a closet(!). Not to sound too pathetic because we always had what we needed, but I truly feel how important her personal space is for my daughter. Plus, now that she is 14 there are many, many moments when it is a pleasure for the WHOLE family for her to have someplace to go :). And Julie, you are right on target-I kept feeling like such a wasteful idiot for having bought such a wrong bed. I still won't break even but with what my sister is paying me for the old bedding the money hit isn't all that bad-and it really helps her since she needed a new bed anyway. And now the room looks so incredibly better, there is just no comparison. Today I kept things moving: my daughter and I finished going through her closet and drawers and that yielded 2 more huge bags for Goodwill and another large sack of trash. As per a tip I read here on OTH, I even took everything out of the closet, exchanged all the nasty dry cleaner wire hangers for plastic ones, and then we arranged her clothes by function. After that I primed and painted the bookcase. She had picked out a very royal blue for the color and at first I insisted on white (my preference). But I"m glad I gave in-she really loves the color and hey, it's her room. I"ll give it the final coat tomorrow and then the room is really done. Whew. Ann

Do what you have to do and what works for you. One tip I've heard is to put all the stuff in the center of the room and work around the pile. Just be careful about dust on the walls. A washdown with tsp or water, then good dry (mine dried very quickly). Also understand, and the painting pros certainly can correct me, that it's best to use an opened can within 6 months. so BANG that cover on hard (but don't splatter it all over your walls, wipe the lip down first real well). Good luck. I'm doing this technique in a bathroom right now.

Wal-Mart had a few over the weekend, but they were looking dry and tired. I haven't been to Home Depot in Gainesville in the last week, but they had a lot of tomato plants about 10 days ago. If you don't find any there while you are in the Denton-Pilot Point area, you might try the Calloway's Nursery in Denton or, if you're in the mood for a driving adventure, the Mike's Garden Center in Southlake. It is just off Hwy 114 near White's Chapel Rd, though I don't remember if it is right at White's Chapel, or one exit away. Often, Mike's has veggie plants very late in the season, but I haven't been in there since June so don't know what they've had or still have this summer. One of the hospital chains has built a huge new medical facility just west of Mike's, so if you can spot the new hospital from the road, then Mike's is just east of it. I have a niece in the hospital in Fort Worth and will be heading down there soon, maybe today or tomorrow, or possibly not until Saturday depending on which day she is finally well enough to have visitors. She is not doing very well at all and I have been a bundle of nerves the last couple of days. My sister has both her daughter and stepdaughter in the midst of major health crisis type situations and has had about all the stress she can handle this week. I'd like to think I can squeeze in a visit to a couple of my favorite Fort Worth nurseries while I'm down there, but no matter how hard I try, I never seem able to make it to nurseries when visiting my non-gardening family members. Too many people to see, so little time, I guess.

I have this fantasy of installing a bookcase / shelves next to a doorway or opening, but placing them 3" or 4" away from the wall. And then slide big flat things BEHIND the shelves (that's why "next to a door," so there's room to slide them out). And maybe install ledges on the back side of those shelves to hold those flat things up off the ground, or maybe make it possible to store one of them higher up (double-deck). What made me think of that was this item from your list: 2 folding tables (when guests come over) Set some deep shelves (as deep as the folding chairs are wide) by the door to the house (if there is one, or any other door) far enough out from the wall to fit those tables, and then install one ledge low down on the back side of the shelves so you can slide one table in to rest on it, and another ledge above it to set the 2nd table on. You could install those big utility hooks I linked to above, or a 7" ladder hook, on the end of that bookcase to hang the 6 folding chairs on, some low and some high. I don't know how many folding chairs would fit in the 7" depth, but it would be one way to keep them from falling over, etc. And they'd be close by the door and easy to use. Not sure if all 6 would fit; you'd probably need 3 hooks, and I don't know how easy it would be to maneuver chairs off the top hook (Most are 38" high--so if you put the lowest set of hooks so the support is about 39 inches above the floor (not to lift so much as to keep them from falling over) and the next set 39" above that, then thelegs of the top set of chairs would be 78"/6.5' from the floor, so most people would be reaching over their head to get them--not so smart from a safety point of view, probably. If there are stairs, you could reach them more easily, maybe. Or experiment with hanging them upside down from the cross-brace, and that might let you control them better when taking them off. EDITED TO ADD: I just looked it up, and most steel folding chairs are 2" thick when folded, so 3 would fit on each hook. Here's a 7" ladder hook. Not so good for bikes because it doesn't have much of a front "lip" the way the one above does. Good to wait a bit on the family stuff. I do think cooling down could help. Going through the process with a calm even keel goes a very long way in the legal system. A town watch? Is that like a neighborhood watch?

My random stuff is, I am worried where I'll get money to pay my income tax next year and seriously thinking about going back on the no-sugar/less rice, potatoes, pasta bandwagon. I always lose weight when I do that. It's healthier too as I up the veggie count. I wonder if I should do it before the holidays so my weight doesn't get too bad or after in a sort of Fat Tuesday kind of way, eat it all then quit???? And it's not even the US Thanksgiving (next week).

Susie, I'm also glad you're going to take some deep breathes & sit on any estate decisions. Once you start something of that nature it's hard to put the genie back in the bottle, so to speak.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by a neighborhood watch? We use that name for our program here on the penninsula. There are about 20 homes & 3 marinas. The biggest ongoing responsibility is attending the various town meetings (zoning, planning, historical, emergency planning, conservation, budgetary, etc.) We choose 3 people to attend each meeting & provide a brief written summary to everybody on the penninsula. There's ALWAYS something that happend that doesn't make it onto our town's website. We've also installed these gadgets that monitor our heaters & flash a red light in a window should power be lost. The light notifies neighbors to check on that particular house. About 3/4 of our homes are unoccupied during the winter but are not winterized 'cause the owners show up from time to time for a weekend or holiday. Knock on wood, we don't have a crime issue so we don't do much in that regard except keep our eyes open especially in the summer when our population swells due to the marinas. But, since they all know that it's largely us full time residents that watch the boats during the winter they treat us & our penninsula with respect. We do have semi-annual meeting, one in February & one in September. For the next two years, they'll be a lot going on around here because our town is undergoing a major "beautification" project that will play havoc on traffic, shopping, emergency vehicle response issues, etc. We've all waited years for this though so we're excited.

My random stuff is that I'm having another intramuscular EMG done next Tuesday in NY & I'm worried about the results both for my family & myself.

I randomly could write a whole page , things are really bumping in my life,
some good, some super good, some not so good, but we have our health and I try to be positive
at all times.

Yesterday, I bought 3 kinds of tea at Teavana and that thrilled me, I had never set foot in that store after all these years.
When my adult kids are going through hard times, it really affects me,
I can't help it.
