Do HPs in warm climates go dormant - or slow down anyway?
Comments (22)Campanula -- I think the defoliating is a Florida/California thing. Since we don't really have winter, the plants tend to keep virtually all of their leaves from last season. I like to remove them to tell the plant spring is coming, as well as to dramatically reduce the number of black spot spores in the garden. It is indeed labor-intensive, but if we can do it, we like to. Pillars are an interesting way to grow a columnar rose. It works especially well with roses like 'Don Juan' that tend to make a few very stiffly upright canes that resist bending. And yes, if you don't trim such a rose properly, you get a bunch of flowers on the top. It is through the creation of many cut stems all along the length of the pillar that we get even bloom throughout the height. I'm trying to think where, near Cambridge, you could have a good look at some pillars. I'm fairly sure I've seen some at Peter Beales' Nursery. Don't recall seeing any at Mannington Hall. I'll put a link here to a 'Don Juan' in the FSC garden -- I'm a bit hesitant to do that, because it was not at that point ideally trained to the pillar, so it's not a great example. Still, you can get an idea from it. Malcolm...See MoreHP Deskjet printer won't print
Comments (23)Here's my latest attempt. Uninstalled the software everywhere I could find it. Did an Error Check and then a defrag. Rebooted. Downloaded the software again. Disconnected the printer and reconnected it accoriding to instructions on the Quck Start poster that came with my printer. After installation, I did a manual test page, which printed out fine. I made sure the printer is listed as the default. But when I tried yet again to print from a computer file, yet again nothing happened. If I had a cd, I don't now. That's strange because I have the cd for my scanner, which is older than my printer. I also have cd's that came with my first computer, years ago. But no printer cd. There is still an explanation in front of the Printer Port in the DM, and the printer is still not listed there. The link you gave, grandms, didn't help, unfortunately. I will go to the hp site to locate the live person when I have the time to devote to it. I've spent so much time on this, my RL is slipping, and I have to catch up. Thanks to everyone who has tried so hard to help me. If any more ideas occur to anyone, just post it. I'll be checking back here, as I always do. I love this site. Comments (17)Imported from another thread. Interesting event just now this morning. Through the FF release channel it was reported an update was available for my system; specifically v12. I figured what the heck because it would be just busy work if there is indeed a problem with the new version. Well, my system failed to connect to the download site and it was recommended I retry. I did with still no success. I then closed FF and tried once more. The release channel updater reported that my FF 11 was the current version. I am returning to my prior wait and see position. Comments (21)I just replaced the carraige on an older genie garage door opener with the three piece rail. It was a simple fix, off with the old, on with the new and I lubed the carriage and screwdrive with the recommended grease! My problem is the vibration as the carriage tracks!! I checked the joints where the rail joins together and they are tight! The design of the 3 piece rail does not lend itself to a vibration free operation! There appears to be sway from side to side with no bracing between header and motor. Question: Are there any brackets out there that can fix this problem, after market, hand made, etc..
