I liked starting the project in stages. I liked the idea of a comment about saving on demo by giving away her former cabinets if they would remove them. Also reusing the appliances. Good ideas

we are gutting the kitchen as part of a bigger remodel and I am concerned about keeping costs under control. I have been slowly making a list of my own about things that can wait if we start running short on money. ie. tiled back splash (also gives me time to get used to all the change before I make another big decision), flooring (I can live with concrete for awhile), some of the windows (old part of house), built in storage (closet organizer systems, built in homework nook for kids, storage in laundry room unless we can re-use old kitchen cabinets). I truly feel that prioritizing what must get done first is a realistic part of a big remodel. I'd rather work in phases than to give up something I feel is very important to our design.

Have a Grand plan. If you’re doing more than just painting the cabinets or replacing the counter tops during your kitchen remodel, don’t try to save money out of the gate by not hiring a professional to create a design plan. “Hiring a designer saves you time and money in the long run, so you don’t make expensive errors,”
