OT what I did yesterday & today
Comments (17)OK in for a quick break for lunch, and to throw the ham in the oven 4 dinner.. Karma, the puppy has been pretty good today..but only when I am watching, lol. If I am outside and the garden gate is open, she goes over, looks at me, then I say 'hey outta there' and she goes. SHe's learning..thank god! It IS fun changing stuff around. I moved my dirt piles into the garden where I havent tilled yet, the 'new' area, lol. so she can't dig in them anymore, lol. New fence eh? Gotta keep that peeper out, lol. Hey Kylie, Karma's got a spring peeper! lmao! How is that going by the way, with that nosey ol' neighbor? CC it is supposed to be a high of 75 here today, then tomorrow 55, seems like the extended forecast says mid 50's to upper 60's for the next few days. Perfect working conditions. I dont mind doing it when it's hot, can always jump in the pool to cool off! Kylie, lol, I am trying to take pix, my camera has a mind of its own lately, and only works when it wants. I have a few so far, but I am gonna wait till I have more, then make a slideshow so I can post w/the whole time line thang. Karyn, If you were closer I would def come and help! I can't get enough. I used to help my mom all the time b4 she moved to PA. I did all her digging. Ugh, I havent even gotten mulch yet. I keep forgetting to call the town and see when they are putting out their free stuff. My luck it came and went already, lol. When you hire people to come work in your yard, do you watch them like a hawk? lol, I know I would be..I'd be makin sure they didnt screw anything up. Kristy, have fun fishing! Catch some monsters! And get that pergola!!!!...See MoreDishwasher dilemna: didn't work yesterday, works today
Comments (8)Any item with electronic controls can have a hicup and reset -- that's why I suggested you try it. Could have been a power surge, bugs crawling in places they shouldn't -- who knows? There's really no way of knowing if something like that happened or if a aprt is shorting out or about to die unless you give it a chance to see if it happens again. You've got another thread going with doubts about the LG, so why not cancel that and give it some tim to make your answer onthe KA DW apparent? In the meantime, you can take a little time to see what you'd chocse given a little more time and a little less frayed nerves. I had a KA of similar vintage to yours that I loved. They changed the racking when I had to pick in this house and I went with Bosch. I went next to the top of the line for nearly the least sound and the best features/value combination. I've had to adjust my loading, but I'm very happy with them. Yep -- I have a matched pair and love it....See MoreAfter 9 months, today I cried
Comments (33)OK, you guys are awesome. I couldn't even read the posts until now because I would start to cry again. Isn't that silly? I usually have more perspective than this. I think my extended family (parents, siblings, etc.) has been more upset over how long this has taken than me. They seem to get mad at me that I haven't gotten madder before now, it has been driving them crazy and they don't even live here. :) But that is why I feel guilty about it. My job usually gives me perspective. I tear up a little sometimes when I am sitting with a dying patient, when I am hugging the family after pronouncing a patient that has just died and telling them their loved one is really gone, or talking to someone that just received a very grave diagnosis. I try to wait until the ride home to cry when I loose a patient I have come to know over weeks, months, or even years. But I don't usually cry over kitchens. My awesome brother who helps everyone, used to go to get a Christmas tree with me every year and bring a gas powered chain saw to cut it down. One year while I was looking for the "perfect" tree, he cut down Christmas trees for all the elderly and single women trying to do it themselves that he could find. When I called to him that I had it, "the" tree, he pulled the chain and pulled the chain. He was out of gas! He borrowed a hand saw and cut MY tree down by hand. But he still went back with me the next year. :) So when I needed a tree in my front yard cut down, he offered to do it. That day he said, you know I am going to do my best, but I usually only do my own because there is no gaurantee this tree won't land on your house. My brother rarely does less than a good job on anything, but darn it, didn't that tree land on the house. I stood and couldn't do anything becuase I was laughing so hard. When I could talk again I said, well you get what you pay for sometimes! Anyway, the moral of my story is that despite having good intentions and a good heart and doing your best, sometimes s**t happens. No matter how hard you try, no one promises life will be easy or fair. Besides, while I have been doing a "budget" remodel of the kitchen and livingroom for 20,000.00, many people can't afford to remodel at all, or are trying to do on much less, so I am actually pretty fortunate. You all have made me feel so much better! I am not used to being the one getting the hugs and support, I usually give them and I do so appreciate it. Now I need to suck it up and I will take a trip out to buy a great big umbrella to go over my patio table so I can enjoy the heat wave that is supposed to come later this week and get out of this darned mess! I just wish I felt happier about going out to do it. Maybe I will when I see out there and sit down under it to have lunch. Sue...See MorePlanted Dr Ruppel yesterday and today OMG HELP!
Comments (3)floral_uk - thank you so much for replying so quickly. I've attached a picture of the mess I've now made. I suffer with depression, anxiety, OCD and bipolar disorder. This has really taken a toll on me this morning. I have seriously been outside in the rain with a bucket on and off for the last three hours, crying as I fight an endless battle. It just won't stop raining. And yes, that's exactly what I did. I purchased potting soil as I always do, mixed it with my native clay, and backfilled. I've got azaleas, brugmansia, roses, another clematis, etc and I remember this has happened in the past with those plants as well, when I first dig the hole, and if it rains soon after. But they've all survived. I don't know if I'm freaking out or what. But now I've made a huge mess. With my OCD, and my mind racing I simply cannot control myself. I keep scooping out buckets of water. Digging like I did only made it worse. It did pull the water away from it a little but since the rain won't stop it just keeps filling up with water all around it. I'm at a loss as to what I should do. I've come close several times to just carefully with the shovel scooping the clematis out of this muddy mess. It looks way worse now that it did, but I couldn't control myself. I freaked out and started digging a trench and quickly realized that wasn't going to be easy, and the more I dug the messier the whole area got. Please please please when you have time advise me on what I should do. If it means digging it up and letting it dry out a little then I'll do it and plant it elsewhere. It nearly killed me planting it the first time. I pulled a muscle in my back and now I am paying for it. And to have to do it all again I just dread. But I most certainly will. And any advice, tips or tricks on how to fill this mess I made by digging? Is bathtub effect normal? Am I freaking out for nothing? On this same side of the fence, about 10-12 feet down I have 2 brugmansia, a rose close by, cleome and they've all been puddled from time to time and all have survived over 5 years now. I'm embarrassed to even show the area I chose. It looks such a mess now. The little fence was to keep my dogs away. It worked but I guess I needed a dam instead of a fence What did I do wrong to cause this bathtub effect? Thank you so much for just listening. And I'm ready for any and all advice you have time to give....See Moremodestgoddess z6 OH
