Need I.D. Please

I know this is a tiny plant, and you may not be able to identify it, so don't feel bad about telling me to wait.

I got some seeds marked "Texas Star Hibiscus," but what came up is DEFINITELY not that. I thought at first it might be a weed, then two more came up in the same 6-pack cells, so I'm thinking the seeds may have been mislabeled.

Leaves: 3-sided, almost triangular, fuzzy, sort of grey-ish. Thought it was forming a rosette, but then the larger one started branching on top. Not petunia - leaves are all wrong.

Seeds: As far as I know, they look just like Texas Star Hibiscus seeds, small, round, brown.

It's Latin name is ihavenoidea officinalis - not sure what the common name is. : )

Looks a lot like New Zealand spinach - def. NOT a hibiscus!

Haha-looks surprisingly similar to petunia seedlings. They're fuzzy, too.

Dinky picture but inflorescence certainly has the characteristic outline. Strap-like leaf shape might come from a Zantedeschia rehmanii involvement.

I DID have some New Zealand spinach seed pods last year. I reused this six-pack, so maybe it IS that. It never came up last year. O.K., looked it up and it is probably New Zealand Spinach. The picture of a seedling on this page looks just like it. Oh Joy! I only had a few seed pods last year, and I ended up putting most of them into the community garden, where they never sprouted before I left. I'm so thrilled to have some now! Three should be enough for me, I think. I'm glad I didn't just toss it away as a weed!

LOL! It is New Zealand Spinach, but it isn't growing too fast out in the garden. I'm thinking of transplanting it into a pot.

Well that's a nice surprise. :) I love it when that happens. That happens to me too ... I forget what was in a six pack and plant some new seeds and end up with a surprise from the first batch of seeds that I thought had failed. I wonder if any of the hibiscus will germinate as well.

@sharon's florida Hibiscus seeds are weird. They seem to thrive on neglect. I've had them come up a year after I plant them. Datura are the same way.

I have some surprise seedlings, either tomato or peppers, coming up in a pot outside that had held a tomato seedling that died. I have no idea what they are, and won't even know if they are peppers or tomatoes until they get some true leave. Last time, they turned out to be everglades, which I planted in the outside garden, and they are doing great.

Glad you've got some tomatoes. I love the everglades one (actually I think mine is Matt's Wild), but found a yellow grape one that grows similar that I like even better because it seems to be less acidic. I love those wild type, mini, cherry tomatoes because they'll grow just about anywhere. Well that's great you'll have some tomatoes this year ... my seeds never came up and I refuse to buy any plants ... tomatoes are pretty cheap at Save a Lot. I did finally get my greek peppers up, but they are still going really slowly. A shot of the compost tea you suggested seemed to help them a lot.
