This bird and been another paler one have been showing up at our feeder. They about the size of a titmouse They are very polite, not chasing outher birds.

Thanks that sure seems to be him. My bird book made him brighter.Don't ever remember seeing them here before.

Dinky picture but inflorescence certainly has the characteristic outline. Strap-like leaf shape might come from a Zantedeschia rehmanii involvement.

Yes, male House Finch. They vary a lot in the amount of red.
I put this pic together to help distinguish House Finches from Purple Finches.
Now, all you have to do is figure out which is which... :)
