Littlealexa (& others)- May I see pics of your basements?
Comments (0)I posted a thread about budget basement renos back in January. We are finally moving forward with the budget basement re-do, and I was wondering if I could see your pics? You had posted that your basement sounded similar to mine. Anyone else have semi-finished basements that they'd like to share pics of? We simply cannot afford to have this basement truly finished, but we'd like to use the space at least as a work out room and play area for the kids. Floor is concrete, walls are cinderblock, and it's very, very old- home was built in 1905. Thanks in advance....See MoreMay I see pictures of your basement playroom/family room?
Comments (7)Thanks for all the pictures and advice. My DH thinks that painting the floor is a good way to go, but I think it needs to be nicer. Sounds like most of you agree that the floor needs to be nice enough to feel comfortable with kids sitting on it to play. I think since we might be not putting much furniture down there to show, that clean painted walls, new light fixtures and carpet would be the easiest to do and have the largest appeal. Our ceiling is finished plaster, and has radiator pipes hanging on it, so it is not a new house with high ceilings and that type of setup. The ceiling and pipes are all sprayed off-white. Thanks for the preliminary help. I am currently working on emptying it out (we're getting a dumpster in 2 weeks). I will post some pictures when I get it emptied out....See MoreMay I see your SW Grassland rooms?
Comments (1)Oh no--it's a lovely sage green! Here's a pic from our last house right after painting the LR-turned-"library" SW Grassland--I was trying to figure out what to do with the window, so it was the focus of the picture--rest of room was in disarray. Here's a pic taken from the DR looking into the "library". the DR is a soft gray. I chose the SW Grassland because it did look good with gray, but it never LOOKED gray itself. At least not in this room, nor in the basement bathroom (windowless)....See MoreMay I see your dining room chandelier?
Comments (71)oh I'm just dizzy. So much beauty! I stopped over here hoping for this exact thread. I am currently shopping and struggling for a chandelier for our "formal" dining room/space. It is meant to be the formal dining, but it is litterally eight feet from the front door. There is no real foyer. It also has a 15 ceiling and only a wall and a half seperating it from everything else. The fixture in there is very wrong and light just seems to disapear. Everything is so expensive out there, its very frustrating. Thanks Sumnerfan for starting this thread. It helps so much to be able to see the rooms with the fixtures instead of a store full of fixtures....See Morebeaglesdoitbetter
