Booker Prize Collection

Hi all

Today I received two books in the post; a first edition of Quartet in Autumn by Barbara Pym, and a first edition of Knowledge of Angels by Jill Paton Walsh.

I now have only two gaps in my Booker Prize collection. One is From Scenes Like These, by G M Williams; the other is A Green Equinox, by Elizabeth Mavor. Both books are very scarce and cannot be obtained as hardback first editions without paying four figures. The Mavor I have as the simultaneous paperback first edition; the Williams I just have a cheap paperback.

So, as of today, I now have every Booker Prize winner and shortlist; the vast majority as first editions. Yay!

A few statistics. As of this year:-

273 books in total

47 winners

56 different publishers

195 different authors.

13 I have but want a better edition (some fault in the one I have) - including the two I mentioned above, which I will buy when my ship comes in.

The first I ever bought - Life of Pi. (Sheer luck - I bought it new because it intrigued me.)

The last winner I bought - The Siege of Krishnapur.

I thought you'd all be interested.
