Wet in early spring and late fall; dry otherwise and part sun

I am looking for one plant to fit a very specific location.

It is a low point and so collects water and snow melt in the early spring but in the summer it is quite dry and receives no supplemental water.

From experience whatever I have planted there in the growing season invariably does not return in the spring. I would bet it is due to the excessive amount of water that it sits in during the late winter and early spring.

It gets dappled sun (maybe a bit more sun then dappled?). I want a perennial that can attain a height of 3 feet as the spot is at the back of a bed.

Anything that comes to mind for you?
