Blood moon
Comments (4)The color occurred due to the timing. The sun was rising (or nearly so) and the light from the sun reflected enough to add that color to the moon. If one had seen it about 30 minutes prior, it was just an ordinary lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse is so much easier on the eyes than a solar eclipse. Of course, one has to be up and around for the lunar one. Be careful when observing any solar eclipse, even a partial one can do damage to one's eyes....See MoreFall California Rose Events
Comments (11)Kim, I think Clay is one of that group of instructors, too. At least, last I heard from JD, he was. The San Jose event is fun, and a great rose sale. For those in NoCal, there is the NATIONAL HEIRLOOM EXPO To Be Held On Sept. 10, 11, & 12, 2013 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, CA The National Heirloom Exposition is a not-for-profit event centered around the pure food movement, heirloom vegetables, and anti-GMO activism. What could be more appropriate for the Heritage Roses Group? HRG took part in the first event, in September, 2011. The event was great, and our booth was a roaring success. WeâÂÂre excited about repeating our participation this year! The 2012 event, with more than 100 speakers and 300 natural food vendors, was the largest gathering in pure food history " and 2013 could even eclipse that! The Heirloom Expo has gained incredible interest among home growers, farmers, school groups and the general public"so much so that it is being called the âÂÂWorldâÂÂs Fair of Pure FoodâÂÂ! HRG is already listed on the VendorâÂÂs list. Want to come and play? You can find this information in the Gold Coast Heritage Roses Group and National Heritage Roses Group newsletters for July and August. Jeri...See MoreCan I just complain about school scheduling?
Comments (29)Arcy-GW, I take your bet; arrange to pay up now. And a quick Google search would have told you that you are completely wrong: https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/science/2017/07/28/solar-eclipse-2017-why-class-canceled-many-south/520578001/ People have been making solar eclipse plans for our state for years--that's years not months. Campgrounds report taking reservations starting over five years ago. (Here's a national news article from 2015 on making plans for the eclipse: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2015/10/17/pick-perfect-spot-view-2017-solar-eclipse/74061326/). Our State has declared a state of emergency for the day. This is a very very big deal. And our district--and many in the state--starts on a Tuesday this year, because of the eclipse. They definitely took it into account when they scheduled. I have no idea why you would think you know more about our local school district and the circumstances in my locale than I do. I asked the school once politely if there is an alternative. Then I came here and asked, specifically, for commiseration. I did not say I plan to make a stink. I did not say I am super important and special and the world should revolve around me. And I certainly did not ask to be lectured by someone who is competely wrong about the facts. Message me your contact information so we can arrange for you to pay me $10,000. (You are also completely ignorant of how school absences are handled in various schools. My children have attended public schools where family holidays are not excused absences and after three unexcused tardies or absences in one school year the family is referred for a truancy process to start.) You really should try to know what you are talking about before you go on an unprovoked rant. You just make yourself look foolish....See MoreHosta W 2017
Comments (34)Hope you are over your cold now Paula. Only one photo of a W. for last summer. Unfortunately I took very few photos last season. I will have to make up for it this spring/summer. Wolverine And then on October 21st, 2017 But once upon a time I had a very nice Wide Brim I bought it in the days before I went hosta crazy. Unfortunately it took me years to discover it was virused! So now I was thinking I will just move on and get something newer and "better" to replace it. But you all have shown me your beautiful Wide Brim's, and I have fallen in love again! So I have decided I've got to get a replacement!...See More41 North (Zone 7a/b, NE, coastal)
