I didn't get to see it. Or didn't put forth the effort. There is a partial solar eclipse coming up I plan on making an effort for. On the 23rd, it should be visible beginning at 16.51, peaking at 17.52. I'll certainly be awake for that! I'm probably too far south, but you won't be. Linked below.

My area was cloudy most of the night, so I couldn't see it. However, very early on the next morning--when it wasn't a 'blood moon', it was still very white, very round, very big, and very beautiful.

George, I read the reason for the color, but don't remember it. When I leave the GP, I'll find out.

The color occurred due to the timing. The sun was rising (or nearly so) and the light from the sun reflected enough to add that color to the moon. If one had seen it about 30 minutes prior, it was just an ordinary lunar eclipse.

A lunar eclipse is so much easier on the eyes than a solar eclipse. Of course, one has to be up and around for the lunar one. Be careful when observing any solar eclipse, even a partial one can do damage to one's eyes.

Jim, thanks for your explanation about "blood moon". When I Googled it, I confess I didn't know if I could explain it ptoperly. Your explanation was understandable and simple.(That's what I need!) :)
