The eclipse arrived on schedule in Wisconsin. The overcast sky cleared late this afternoon, in time for the show. I experimented with my camera and did get some results.

IMG_0563-2 Earth's shadow has spread almost half way across the moon.

IMG_0572-2 The eclipse is nearly total when the 'blood' moon appears.

These shots were made with a camera and tripod. No other equipment was used. These images were cropped to eliminate a bunch of black space, but no other processing was done.

The camera: Canon Power Shot SX50 HS mounted on a tripod. Shutter release was by hand.

I could have used a remote or cable release. Several other shots had camera shake from my hand. These shots were tricky because I had to hold the shutter button half way down until the camera was able to focus. In this very low light, focusing is iffy.
