We'll see it here in Virginia - around sunset.

It's supposed to be spectacular in the northeast US--less so as you go west. All depends on clear skies tho. There was an excellent article in the Boston Globe this am.

Luna rises in eclipse here on the East Coast tonight and begins to shed her shadow before reaching her zenith.

Beautiful sight here in the Boston area - cloudy but it has cleared enough to see. Large and red!

It was beautifully clear last night, and looked really spooky - particularly as the last bit of the sun still illuminated the top of the moon, and the rest was looking red.

My nine-year-old asked me to wake her up to see it. So I did (at about 11:00 at night). She was a bit woozy, but looked out of her bedroom window and saw it. This morning, she came in to complain that I hadn't woken her - she doesn't remember a thing about it...

Oh well - I tried!

A wonderful sight here too. It is so unusual for the weather to be on 'our side' when these events take place.
Our local TV 'weatherman' is a keen amateur astronomer and often points out when to look out for anything interesting in the Heavens. I find tracking the 'Space Station' fascinating.

Well of course, typical of West Wales, the cloud came down and obliterated all. Woke up this morning to torrential rain and howling winds, too! Just as well I like that sort of weather. Well - I was brought up with it.

But I'm glad you all saw it.

Oh Dido! My sympathies.

Not a real surprise, though...

Cloud cover, not helped by the fact that I am in a valley. Just a bright reddish sky. Drat.

Cloudy with big snowflakes off and on that didn't stick but ruined any hope of viewing the eclipse. My newspaper said it was best seen in the UK. We would have got a partial view since the moon rose at 5:30-ish and the sun didn't set until 6:30.

We are too far west. But I well remember one the night after we moved into our new home. We sat on the roof and watched it turn into a dark penny. Lovely sight.

And here in Central New York, after a clear afternoon, the clouds rolled in just in time to obliterate it and the snow began again....sigh. The meteorologists promise us another one in August, one that we will be better able to see since it will begin later in the evening.

I didn't know there was going to be an eclipse and just happened to be in Cumbria Saturday night - it was a bit of a shock when someone stepped outside to smoke and called us all out because the moon was turning red! It was totally clear and the best eclipse I've ever seen, although it started raining sometime around 3am and didn't stop the entire way back down to London!

Nearly missed it - fortunately teenage daughter took the dogs out for a late wee and alerted us! It was very pink and looked much more spherical and floaty than usual. Does anybody know whether Nick Drake's song Pink Moon is about a lunar eclipse?
