I don't have any rock nearby and I wanted the "natural" look. So I went to a local nursery that had some Field Stone and bought 615 pounds worth. I loaded it from the pallet, into a wagon, out of the wagon onto a scale for weighing, and then into the back of my wife's Nissan Murano. When I got home I then unloaded all of them. No bad for a guy who had back surgery in November.

Dolly has put together a telethon, to be aired on the 13th, to benefit the victims of the fires in E TN. She has also pledged $1K per month per family for 6 months for the fire victims. I've always considered her a canny business woman. Before I retired the company I worked for had several clients on Music Row, one of which was Dolly's label. I was working there on a fairly large job and I got to know my contact fairly well. He asked me if I ever met any country artists and I told him no, but there was only one I really cared to meet: Dolly Parton. A couple days later he had me look out the front window, there was a white stretch limo out front. Dolly was in the building handing out yellow roses to everyone, her album '18 Yellow Roses' had gone platinum. Dolly was on the first floor, so I made my way down with my ladder over my shoulder into the large room she was in, opened a ceiling tile and stood by my ladder and pretended to be working. I and my ladder were placed in such a manner that she would have to squeeze past me and my ladder to exit the room, and so she did. As she squeezed past she hesitated, looked me straight in the eye and said "hi". I'm embarrassed to say all I could do was smile.

I know exactly what you're talking about re the parchment--One does those kinds of tabs sewing insets, but I didn't have time for cutting the tabs, or for chancing that the batter would leak out of the bottom without the paper from the bottom going up the sides. Planning ahead would have helped. ;) Dolly tea cake might be a local expression. It's just a tiny cake for a doll's and/or teddy bear's tea party. It's not a "tea cake" necessarily. Just big enough to look pretty and not like a toy, and small enough that a couple little ones can't make themselves sick on it even if they eat it all--though each dolly and bear is supposed to get a slice. :) My mother made a couple of those doll cakes too. One was Cinderella, I think, for my birthday. The bit I remember better was a giant high heeled shoe (cardboard covered with foil) filled with candy. And there were little 1-2" plastic cake toppers in pink which were actually meant to be bridesmaids, but my mother turned them into Cinderellas for each girl. I I don't remember what the boys got, or if it was the first all girls party. Another doll cake was a bride for a shower. They used to sell dolls for the purpose that cost less than fashion dolls and didn't have any legs. :) When I was a tot, I'd want the doll and my mother would warn me that it wasn't fund to play with. :) Looking back I can see how inexpensive the stuff for our parties was--mostly ingenuity plus a little paper--but it all seemed magical. I hope she enjoyed her Mother's Day party even half as much as I did all those wonderful birthday parties. :)

First, not only did I laugh hysterically after reading Gizmo's in-thread caption and then scrolling down to the squirrel sconce photo; I thought it was so hysterical, I showed it to DH - who also laughed. I enjoy considering the designs that Gizmo posts, and I enjoy the wide-ranging perspectives/reactions from posters. @Judy Graham, hope you are doing okay. I recently read another harsh comment you posted suggesting a post was an ad, when it was not. I almost posted that the comment seemed out of character. I think of you as someone willing to offer resources and "doable" ideas on Houzz, not as a thread policer.
