We used SW Svelte Sage and Grassland in our last house and loved the sage green of them both. They went well with our cooler colors--soft smoke gray was our overall color. In our new house, we wanted that kind of green again but needed it to be warmer. What worked for us this time is SW Avenue Tan (don't let "tan" mislead you--not tan at all).

@mark_rachel, I changed to cedar key. I bought it to go with the new marble tile I picked for the fireplace. There is a lot of natural light in the room. It might be a little pinker than bleecker beige, but I don't really see the pink when I don't look at them together. To me it is a very very soft latte. In the store it felt more gray. On some adjacent walls, I have collectors item. It is a creamy color, seems like a very light version of the yellows I had before. It works with cedar key. I did not want to be surrounded by taupe or gray, which is why I chose to contrast with cream. My living area pallete right now is BM white, cedar key, and collector's item. The paint consultant picked out the latter two when I brought in my samples. I told her bleecker beige (taupe) was my least favorite color (sometimes you can't avoid things that work so well), and that I loved gray but didn't want to be surrounded by it. I lived with bleecker beige for several years. Visitors loved it. I think I was ready to tone down all the yellows on the walls and floor, so I am happy going with cooler hues. BM has a free 2016 color of the year booklet that features varying shades of white. I picked one up at my BM paint store.

Thank you! I will certainly look at those SW colors. I have gone yet but will this week to grab samples or swatches. The top color looks similar to BM Atmospheric that we have in our kitchen. I tried a little bit on the wall and it was vetoed so we will see. I have not thought of yellow but generally love how much brighter it can make the room so thank you! I am planning to keep the bead board painted white. The vanity we may end up replacing anyway. It was a dark wood but had been very abused so I painted it white but already the doors are not looking great so it either needs to be repainted with better paint or something. So long story, no I am not tied to the white vanity. The amount of wall space to paint is very minimal and only on 3 walls but it is at the top of the stairs which tends to be quite dark so I was really looking for something a bit lighter than the deep blue. But I do like those pictures. Any recommendations on blues to check out? We have used Normandy in a bedroom and it reads much darker than you would expect due to the poor lighting conditions.

I prefer what you already have on the walls, to any of your paint samples.
