Are you looking to paint just the walls and trim or is the vanity in play? Maybe there's room for compromise in whether you paint the wainscoting and trim or the walls? It's a small enough space that I'd want to keep the ceilings white. White trim/wainscot with deep blue or gray walls is very popular right now, as is the reverse.

I share your fear of medium blues. They're very hard to judge, and in a room that small the color will be intensified. I also think a more grayed out blue might be a better match for your black and white floor and hardware.

Thank you! I will certainly look at those SW colors. I have gone yet but will this week to grab samples or swatches. The top color looks similar to BM Atmospheric that we have in our kitchen. I tried a little bit on the wall and it was vetoed so we will see. I have not thought of yellow but generally love how much brighter it can make the room so thank you!

I am planning to keep the bead board painted white. The vanity we may end up replacing anyway. It was a dark wood but had been very abused so I painted it white but already the doors are not looking great so it either needs to be repainted with better paint or something. So long story, no I am not tied to the white vanity. The amount of wall space to paint is very minimal and only on 3 walls but it is at the top of the stairs which tends to be quite dark so I was really looking for something a bit lighter than the deep blue. But I do like those pictures. Any recommendations on blues to check out? We have used Normandy in a bedroom and it reads much darker than you would expect due to the poor lighting conditions.

Experience with an inadvertently baby blue bathroom taught me to find the color I think I want, then go with the lightest shade on that color strip instead. It might end up being called grey or silver or white, but it will show blue. I have been looking at light blues for years as I planned my bathroom, then when I went to buy paint, I ended up at a place that made paint locally and went for one of their colors! But the colors I was considering were:

Benjamin Moore Soft Jazz (I would have probably gone a shade or two lighter on this color strip)

BM Yarmouth Blue

BM Palladian Blue and..

Benjamin Moore Sea Salt

Yes, they are almost all green/blues. It is a fresh look that does not overwhelm with the dread Baby Blue and adds a feeling of watery-ness to the space.

I am no decorator. I just have been watching blues for a long time! We tried swatches of Palladian Blue and Yarmouth Blue in our Family room/kitchen, but they did not work so well. We ended up with a Lowes color called "lettuce," instead.

We went with Sea Salt as a compromise. I am having a hard time getting a good picture. Wondering if it looks better or if I need to try again? Luckily there is not a lot of wall space so it is quick and easy if I need to redo it. It is a lot greener than I expected.

Sea Salt is quite green. You can go quite a bit bluer and still have a blue-green. I am looking at SW Niebla Azul for my master bath.
