There are a few other new pink lilacs now, one is growing in a yard the other way from me, doesn't look like Isabella. I think the James MacFarlane is pink, but they don't always necessarily bloom true. I bought some and planted them on the farm, can't remember the names now except for Sensation. They all died but the yellow one because I couldn't be there to get them off to a good start. The yellow one is pretty pale but pretty anyway. There is an oriental yellow one that is more showy in Klehm's catalog. That other link was a fascinating read. Nothing about propagation, but what a contribution she made. I think I stumbled onto a page of that site before. What a lady! Makes me regret I couldn't have had the foresight to get started in my better years. Wow, too bad it's an Australian site (can't order from them probably) and too bad I don't have more room for them. We have a beautiful public lilac garden a block away, but there are newer, more exotic ones out there now compared to what they put in about 30 years ago. Still, it is a lovely place. That is definitely peachy in the bud form, then it looks like it opens to a more pink shade. Beautiful thing. You are finding some neat sites on the web.

Ciao all, I hope everyone had a great day out in the garden today. I know it's a back to work day for most people, but my goodness, what glorious weather to be outside. Thanks to all of you for such interesting trades and also for your knowledge and wisdom regarding perennials. I have SO much to learn about them still, thanks for your patience in answering my newbie questions. Tristan grabbed some things from the middle circle which I have no clue regarding the names of the plants or what sort of care they need, so as soon as I'm able, I'm hoping to post some pictures of them for ID. I'm so excited about all the lilacs! They're small, but I know they'll fill that space nicely and I can't wait to discover what colours they turn out to be. I put the dahlias in full sun and just barely covered the root/tuber/rhizome thingies. I hope that's what they need. Tomatoes/eggplants/peppers/tomatillos/basil all got a full day outside and tomorrow will be their first major dose of full sun. I'm hoping to get them in the ground before the weekend. Duane finished 2 additional tomato beds as a birthday present for me and got all the 8' stakes in this morning. The soaker hoses are all in place and now it's just a matter of waiting a few days for the plants to get fully hardened off. Big hugs to all of you, I wish the weather had been more pleasant but it was still a very fun event and thanks again to sydseeds for organizing the swap and for everyone's wonderful enthusiasm and generosity. Bob - The Trimmer seedling was accidentally sent to me as a bonus. The pots had gotten mixed in with his Charleston Charm. It must be a sibling to his intro Santa Clara, which is Orange Blossom Trail X Mexican Elvis. It has a very large bloom - 7 inches - when its not recurving. It only recurves when temps are extremely hot. The bud count is good, and it reblooms well. I imagine this one did not get introduced because the pencil edge does not go completely around the bloom. Also, it is a reluctant pod setter. I haven't tried its pollen on anything yet. If you want a piece of it next Spring, I could sent you some. It is an evergreen.
