Comments (38)simplicity in beef tsp of chipolte powder garlic powder sea salt pepper a dash of JD some molasses and a touch of vinegar _______________________ combine wet ingredients and garlic powder and marinade steaks for 1-2 hrs prepare hard wood charcoal.. this is the most important part of it hard wood only nothing else or it'll taste like ewww salt and pepper steaks to taste, i go light on salt since you're adding it prior to cooking it'll bring the flavors out and not taste like salt steak and prepare to cook _____________________________ ok cooking when the coals are at their hottest begin cooking steaks timing must be precise or you'll get a lot of carbonization so i normally cook for about 5-7 min on each side? although 7 on one and 4 on the back is just as good a key note to remember is, when you cook steaks,, all except for cube and chuck which taste better pan fried for some reason, you want to keep them as close to the med rare line as possible no more but less is ok, or you'll actually destroy the flavor of the steak itself. note: Rib eyes cook best this way same with Ny and if you can get it steak cut prime rib. Enjoy =D...See MoreWhat makes an orchid desirable?
Comments (14)Exceptions to all of these, of course. 1. It's affordable. 2. It grows indoors in my intermediate/warm conditions. 3. Tolerates low-ish humidity. The 1.5" high Platystele umbellata is in a homemade terrarium that's 6" wide so there's enough humidity for it to produce those eensie flowers that look like raspberries. 4. Size is miniature to compact, or the plant stays on the compact side for several years. 5. Grows in a pot. Dunking the 2 mounted orchids each day is enough. 6. The flowering period lasts several weeks. 7. Something about the orchid just "does it" for me. See raspberries. :) Every single frilly peloric Phal thrills me. Go figure. 8. Theoretically, there's already enough room. If the 2 mounted orchids weren't hanging from brooder light fixtures, there wouldn't be room for all 38 orchids. Well, theoretically. 9. Available from a U.S. grower. Mostly, this is a cost factor. A few years ago, when I was scouring the planet for Habenaria medusae, a guy in Germany offered to send me a corm the following spring, but I found a plant in the U.S. Nick, I enjoy your tales of getting all 5 giant Pleuros, etc. and ferreting out obscure sources. It'll be interesting to hear about the Australian terrestrials. Having 2 of the same plant is okay if I loooove it and it *should* grow in my conditions. Maybe the 4th and 5th pots of Phal speciosa 'C1' will like the warmer temps that Peter Lin @ Big Leaf Orchids suggested. Continues to be a bit of a challenge or shouldn't grow in my conditions. I've given away or sold plants that thrived and bloomed reliably. Good question, Nick. WhiteCat8 This post was edited by whitecat8 on Wed, Nov 6, 13 at 17:54...See Moresecret desires and fantasies
Comments (38)I would like the back rolling lawn I saw recently in Old Williamsburg. Complete with sheep, fenced terraced areas, a small lake. A symmetrical kitchen garden, a crop garden past that for beautiful heirloom varieties. An east exposure on all four sides. A magnificent crew that could take my ideas and sort them through for the perfect plan. A greenhouse of orchids, and one with other things I can't even imagine. An orangery, avocado and lemon trees, that constantly bear fruit. Blueberries to my fill. No mosquitos. A self regulating compost pile that effortlessly placed mulch where it needs to be. The entire property surrounded with David Austin roses that look as good, and small, as his catalogue. Several good looking zero gravity chairs that look like adirondacks. The microclimate appropriate for all. And soft hands and polished nails....See MoreGood Old Fashioned Gentle Reads
Comments (123)Has anyone tried the books by Elisabeth Ogilvie? She was active from the middle through the close of the 20th century. Her books were mostly set in rural coastal Maine, a series about Bennett's Island as well as some stand alone novels, suspense stories, and historical novels. I believe there were some YA books as well, though I never read any of those. I wasn't crazy about the Bennett's Island series, though they were very popular, but I liked some of her other adult novels very much. She was a master at evoking a sense of place. In fact, she made me long to visit Maine....See MoreJulia WV (6b)
