English Spring 21st March

We have been having lovely weather for the past few days - and making the most of it after a bitterly cold winter.

White blossom foams and breaks bare blackthorn's back - primroses and violets and daffodils and crocuses and dawn choruses in the garden - what more could one wish for - helps us forget for a while the parlous state into which we have plunged the planet.

There is nothing like ill health and old age to make one realise - even more then ever - that we should honour Spring by our presence in all of its wonders and keep its memories bright as winter encroaches once more.

What a wonderful season!

NOTHING is so beautiful as springÂ

When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;

ThrushÂs eggs look little low heavens, and thrush

Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring

The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing; 5

The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush

The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush

With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their

fling.

Gerard Manler Hopkins

Looking forward to some more Sring poems - dont forget the ee cummings!
