Well, buehl, I'm like you--no expert at decorating, but I can tell you what I did. I took the easy way out and kept within the same color strip. All the main rooms are a color from the SW Blonde color strip. Kitchen, FR and Media RM all flow together and are all Blonde. Hallways & Foyer are Ivoire. DR is Mannered Gold and LR is Restrained Gold.

That might be boring and too easy a way out, but it worked for me. I certainly wish you the best.

Oh, one suggestion on helping others with your color decision is to post a close-up of your Yorktowne dishes against each of those color swatches on the wall.

I love your kitchen-beautiful! I really like your darling pantry door also. I think I would choose the cornsilk! I love the brighness and I think it will compliment your dishes. Have you put a paint sample near your floor? I can not tell from your pics if it will blend nicely with your floor. Is it possible to put in a tiled design over your cooktop? I think it would be stunning and then you could pull in some of the paint color into the tile. Maybe the tile setter could copy the blue and white design in your dishes and then you could add touches of yellow tile around it.

I like all three of the colors you chose. One thing I had difficulty with, which you might want to consider, is transitioning from a warm yellow kitchen to a cool-toned living room.

To solve that problem in my current place, I have chosen a gray-taupe color (BM Litchfield Gray in their historic colors) as my main color. The taupe in the color allows me to use some warmer toned colors in the bedrooms/bathrooms and the gray tones in the color work well with the blues and grays that I have elsewhere.

I'm such an idiot. When I looked back through I realized you did have the Yorktowne posed beside the swatches. My vote is for the cornsilk, though it looks a tad too yellowish.

I think you're right on the money.

Love the Cornsilk in your kitchen and it seems to go quite nicely with the Wedgewood.

I'd paper the PR. It's the only thing I can think of to marry the different elements you have in the room.

I think the cornsilk would be a lovely backdrop for those beautiful wood cabinets and countertop of your kitchen and dining area, and would be a great highlight for your dishes. I also love your choice of the wedgewood grey for the foyer and family room - you've chosen two of my favorite colors! I would get the color strip from the wedgewood grey and go a shade or two darker on that strip for the powder room.

For your powder room towel bar and tissue holder, I'd use the same brushed nickel or brushed chrome as you already have in the light fixture and faucet.

Your kitchen is lovely and I think the paler yellow of the America's heartland is just too washed out to do it justice.

Thank you all! Between here and Kitchens, I think the Cornsilk & Wedgewood are in a dead heat! So far, I'm still leaning toward the Cornsilk. However, I have had quite a few recommendations to look for either a grayer blue or taupe OR browner yellow.

This is almost as tough as picking out the cabinets and flooring!

I think I may talk to a color consultant at BM and/or, if they do it, SW.

Your tile looks (on my computer) to be in the beige family and I see that the gray looks good with it. The golds don't seem to go with the tile. Take a tile in to SW or BM or do what I did and hire a decorator by the hour to tell me what to do. Tell them ahead of time what you want. Cost me $125 per hour 10 years ago in San Diego and she was worth every bit of 60 minutes!

The home featured in House Beautiful this month uses BM Cornsilk on the walls. Described as a "soft muted yellow"

I am certainly no expert either, but I agree with sarchlos and nanabella that I would try something like taupe to help marry the beige floor tiles and gray carpet. I have Cornsilk in several rooms, and it's a lovely color but I can't envision it with beige. Instead of trying swatchs of color on the wall, I would paint up some posterboard and put it on the floor against the cabinets near your barstools to get a better impression of how it looks with all the elements together.

We have tile pieces. I'm going to take a picture of the tile, countertop, and cabinets with each paint and I'll post it. There is some orange in the tile, but not a lot.

I didn't have time to call BM or SW for a color consultation (all day meeting). I plan to do it tomorrow. Those color consultants, they're not just someone who happens to work in a paint store, are they? I'd hope they're trained in at least the basics of interior design...

I really like wedgewood gray and this is possibly the color for DD(10) bedroom's. Thank goodness she hated the pale pink once it was on her walls and we're more then happy to repaint her room.

Do you have any inspiration pictures? The colors that you've narrowed down are so different in style but nonetheless they're very pretty. I think sarchlos and nanabella are on the right track with a taupey gray to compliment the gray floor tiles and beige carpet.

Wow, I didn't realize I had so many samples left. I donated 35 different SW and BM paints to my son's middle school last month. Obviously, I'm paint challenged. I have others but they're not BM/SW brands and this forum seems to know BM and SW the best.

I'm sure whatever you choose will look fantastic. Your gorgeous kitchen speaks for itself.

My personal opinion, I don't care for gray with your tan type flooring or really with your cherry cabs, but that's just me. I do like the yellow much better or diff. shades of tan throughout the first floor.

I'm a color phobe...so can't really help...but I have that cooktop...and I love it...but just a word about it...the stainless scratches SOOO easily...so be really careful with it! :)

MoreMoreMore...I noticed! *sigh* Only a few months old and already there are some scratches on the frame.

Yup....totally sucks. I was of course a total idiot cleaning the center control area with the green side of the sponge....and then large pots sometimes touch the frame so, to be honest, it's a total swirly mess when the overhead light is on (otherwise can't see it)....I don't think there's anything we can do about it :( but then again....stuff like this is meant to be used...and easy enough to replace down the line despite its price tag....anyhoo....the spaces look great!

Well, we decided to go with the Cornsilk in the Kitchen & DR and Wedgewood Gray in the FR and, I think, the LR. My DH is out buying the paint as I type!

The color opinions here & on the Kitchens Forum were split about equally...half for Cornsilk/half for Wedgewood. We decided to go w/our original plans b/c, as others have said, it's easy enough to change it if we don't like it...or if after this foray into color I get bolder and want deeper/different colors! I'm taking baby steps here...!

BTW...I did call a couple of BM stores near us and neither had color consultants any more other than the store staff. They both told me they discontinued the consultants...didn't really get a good answer why.

So, what does everyone think about

• A TP holder w/room for extra rolls and a similar one for towels that are recessed into the wall
  OR

• A stand for TP in the corner in front of the toilet & towel rack for towel hung over the toilet
  OR

• A TP holder mounted on the wall in front of the toilet (sides are too tight) and a towel rack above it
  OR

• Something else all together?
