Just put these in the oven. They disappear soooooooooo fast! I skip the parmesan.

Bacon Crisp

Ingredients:
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 lb sliced bacon, cut in half
1 sleeve Waverly Wafers or other buttery rectangular crackers

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.

Place 1 teaspoon of the cheese on each cracker and wrap tightly with a strip of bacon. Place the wrapped crackers on a broiler rack on a baking sheet and put the baking sheets on the oven rack. Bake for 2 hours, or until the bacon is done. Do not turn. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot or at room temp.

Cook's note: You can also bake at 350 for 40 minutes if in a hurry!

Yield: 24 bacon crisps
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 2 hours at 250 degrees, or 40 minutes at 350 degrees
Ease of preparation: easy

Gayle, the best solution I have for things in my house that I don't want to eat (well, really I do want to, but shouldn't) I toss them. In your case, just tossing might not be good enough. Pour some potting soil over the open package in the trash! Really, that works most times, other times I have used old motor oil! :)

Can't help you there, as I'm a lover of it also. In fact, I had several packs here that were getting close to the 'best if used by date' and decided to fry up 3 of them, and then package and freeze them using my Handy-Vac thingy. I hate the time it takes to fry and greasy mess it always makes, so I thought I would fry some up to have handy with no mess.

One thing learned from that...don't ever try and fry bacon and surf GW. It will at some point burn. That was the first batch.

I cleaned the skillet and started batch number 2, and it didn't have near as good flavor as the first one, so I didn't want to freeze it and ever pull it out and maybe serve any if company was here. I ended up finishing off that whole pound just to get it gone (plus I enjoyed it some too).

Bacon has gone up in price so much recently, that if I see it on sale for $2.50, I stock up some. Aldi's supermarket has a good brand and I think that is their everyday low price, that last time I checked.

Go fix a BLT, or BT, or just get it gone. It is one of my favorite comfort foods.

The bacon was an off brand and hardly worth my Cholesterol and Fat joy. But, I loaded on the tomatoes and lettuce. I could barely taste the bacon.

I almost wish I would have had the Fried Spam instead. LOL! That will be for my next binge.

Moni, LOL! I've tossed things before. But, I think Main Man has this bacon for something He plans to whip up for New Years.

Gayle...When I DO try to watch what I'm eating...and I get a hunger for bacon and tomato, I toast up a couple slices of bread, put a tablespoon mayo on it. Lettuce , tomatoe and "Bacos"...(did I spell that right?? the fake bacon in a jar).

Makes a pretty good sandwich...If you put so much stuff on your sandwich that you can't hardly taste the bacon...you might really like this.

I buy the precooked bacon. No muss, no fuss. I just nuke it for 20 sec. or so, to heat it up.

I was going to say what Leslie said. The precooked Oscar Mayer or Hormel bacon just cooks up in a few seconds in the microwave - no greasy mess. Tastes great too.

The precooked bacon is very handy also when you're trying to cut down. It has already shrunk because of the precooking, so you can see and take exactly the amount you need. No mess, no fuss, no bother ~ my type of cooking, lol.

Glad to hear that someone has tried the precooked bacon. I may try it on my "next" benge.

I'm way to stingy to buy the precooked though. A long time ago I figured up what it costs per pound and just couldn't justify it. Besides, I like the grease from fried bacon for seasoning beans and frying potatoes and onions.

For dinner tonight I am cooking cabbage, carrots, potatoes and onions, with some bacon for seasoning. And making cornbread.

I'm hungry already!

Bacon is definitely one of my downfalls. I LOVE the stuff. The smell, the crunch the taste is out of this world. If it's a good brand that is. You can have my choklit, but don't take my bacon! :) Sorry your experience wasn't a little better since you fought it so long Gayle.

No Pork!!; except for bacon. Can't quite give that up. It's just too good for the soul. One thing, try getting the nitrite-free brands - much better for your health, if there is such a thing for bacon.

Glenda....thanks for posting that recipe. I saw Paula doing this on her show, and was fooling around on the computer while I was watching and didn't write it down. WhenI thought of doing them, I couldn;t remember what kind of cheese she used. I ewas too lazy to go the food channel site and lok it up. I'm posting it in my recipe box so I'll have it. Love bacon!! Someone here told me about bacon wrapped Tater Tots. I made those while Main Man's oldest Daughter and Hubby were here. Very good. I wanna try it with Jalapeno Poppers.

The two foods I love the smell of are bacon and popborn. Either one will get my nose going and then my stomach follows.

Love bacon,love BLT's! If I crave one and have bacon in the house I eat one.I usually keep the already cooked bacon in the freezer just for those occasions.Can't hurt once in a while.Hate "bad" bacon.Love fried Spam too.Grilled fried spam and cheddar cheese sandwich,made like a grilled cheese,with real butter.Or fried spam on a toasted wheat bun with lettuce tomato and mayo.Making myself hungry and I just ate sirloin steak.

I find that if I give in to something when I first start wanting it, I don't binge as badly. If I keep talking myself out of it, I really pig out!

As for the mess bacon makes while frying it, I don't! I use my Pampered Chef large bar pan stone. It's shaped like a jelly roll pan. I can put about a pound on it, 425 degrees for about 15 minutes. NO MESSY SPLATTERS IN THE OVEN, NO MESSY SPLATTERS ON THE STOVE! Crisp bacon. Pour off the grease, scrape out the stone, wash in hot water, wipe dry, and put away. I sometimes cook 3-4 pounds at a time in the summer, and freeze it for camping. Just take it from the freezer and warm. Sure beats paying the high price for the pre-cooked store bought, and I can buy hickory smoked bacon, from the deli, in large quantities when it's lean, at a good price, usually about $3.50#.
