Animal Planet is coming today

They decided to do it today instead of tomorrow because they have to get back to wherever it is they are coming from. I went to Houston yesterday, to the wildlife center, to pick up a load of food for the animals and found out it is for an Animal Cops episode.

The high today is supposed to be just 46* but that shouldn't matter too much to raccoons. At least it isn't expected to rain.

I'll update when I find out any more info. Thanks for your interest in it. :)

Angie, Alexandra started working at the Louisiana Nature Center ( part of Audubon Institute ), when she was in sixth grade, one of the reasons she decided to quit Girl Scouting was she was promoted to Animal Care and didn't have the time for both activities. When we left LA for Katrina she had been working Saturdays caring for and handling many of the animals there including baby alligators. Unfortunately, she went over to River Legacy and they don't seem to have any interest in her. She has pretty much known what she wanted to do since she was around 8 or 9. I have two other daughters 15 and 11, neither is interested in nature. 15 y.o. loves acting/drama and the 11 y.o. is into all sorts of stuff, she will go swimming, do yard work, paint play softball pretty much anything active, she likes to help me build things. Both of them were also in Girl Scouts, but neither one wants to anymore. I was hoping they would so I could get involved, but I don't have enough free time to be involved in something unless at least one of my girls is in it. I do miss camping and canoing. I did the training for Brownie, Junior and Cadette leaders, First Aid, OLS 1, OLS 2 and OLS 3 Canoing/Rivertripping. We had active troops, the Brownies went weekend camping. Anyhow, good luck with Girl Scouts- I guess that is why I am here- "make new friends but keep the old"

Bought A Live Animal Trap Today...Online!!

I don't have a trailer large enough to come and borrow it from you. They tried to sell me a bridge when I purchased the trap. What would I do with a bridge that large. That's crazy. I talked to the asians at the Chinese restaurant here in town and asked what to bait the trap with...they wanted to know what I was planning on catching. When I told them, 'Godzilla', I was promptly escorted out the door with either samurai swords or very sharp chop sticks, not sure, but they were sharp. I guess saying 'godzilla in a chinese restaurant is kind of like saying 'hijack' on an airplane. Oh well...live and learn.

Dead animal smell but no animal

@Greatlakesmower, you are a genius! We had exactly the same problem, and it went on for years - a bad smell in a closet, that would come and go. There would be nothing for months or even a year and then, bam, dead animal smell again. I was up in the attic over the closet several times, and nothing. It happened again today and my wife thought to Google it and found your post. We realized that the smell isn't really dead animal (though it's close) - it's actually drywall patch compound that's getting heated up by the bulb! That stuff has a mild smell at room temperature, but it turns out when it gets hot, it's disgusting. We had a 100 watt incandescent bulb in the closet light fixture and swapped it out for a CFL. We're waiting for the smell to dissipate now, but we think our problem is solved, thank you!!!

I can't wait to see. I saw a doctor that used to work here on Animal Cops Houston once. He had adopted a little dog that had been shot. He said he heard from people all over.

Yes, unfortunately, they filmed me. My friend, Nara, brought the two raccoons...and it was just Nara and me and the sound guy, camera guy and a girl who did the interview. We took the racoons on a trail that goes back through the woods and released them.

They said they will send a letter when they air the segment next year. I will let you all know.

Yippee, now I know a television star. I'm excited to see the story. I'll have to watch it at mom's house because I dropped the # of channels on my Dish Network from 120 to 60, to save some money.
