Suspicion, suspicion, suspicion....doesn't solve the mystery...you cant hang an animal for just passing by, you have to catch the criminal or at least sight what is causing your distress. If a dog has buried something there...he'll come back until he finds it. If it is a raccoon or ?? and he's looking for grubs...generally if he doesn't find any he'll give up and go to another place. Have you found any grubs....generally though, they're deep in the ground now waiting for spring. I don't think your problem is grubs. There must be something, some reason, for the animal to come back to that particular area...something's buried I suspect, you might, instead of replacing the sod piece, dig the area, see if you come up with something. You might put something down on the grass to dissuade the culprit. If you have carpet and wish to move a wheeled chair across it, you know about the plastic piece that is put down to enable the easy moving of the wheels... buy it at a stationery store...it has sharp studs so it stays in one place. It has to be handled with gloves ..its very sharp...you wouldn't want to walk on it with bare feet....neither, I think, would an animal. It comes in a size about 5' by 4'...it should do the trick.

I think the magic scientists who make the physiologies match could deal with the strings. As it is, most guitar strings are synthetic and/or metal. Harp strings are also made of nylon and/or metal. Piano strings are metal. Violin strings are also mostly synthetic and/or metal, though sheep's gut is still used sometimes for authentic historical sounds. The sticking point is the bow. Current synthetic bow filaments are too smooth and not as well liked as real horsehair, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't be made better. It's just not worthwhile to develop specially to imitate horsehair while horses are still being slaughtered in sufficient quantity to provide the real thing.

I had a squirrel (?) crawl down a vent pipe in my bathroom and die a few years back. I ended up with a rain of maggots coming into the bathroom through the ventilation fan. I put a jar of alcohol up on a ladder to catch the maggots that fell and was able to "contain" the epidemic. Unfortunately, a few days after the maggots stopped, hundreds (maybe thousands) of big flies hatched out and from the carcass and came down through the vent. My bathroom looked like some scene out of a horror movie with big black flies EVERYWHERE! Fortunately, I had managed to keep the door closed and contained all the flies into that one room where I could spray insecticide and sweep up the dead bodies later. It wasn't a particularly good time though.

Lizardhandz I am glad to hear that someone is using similar (in this case I would say 'the same' :) mix! I hope you'll have excellent result with it. I grow all succulents in it, and even few smaller potted tropical plants. I would use it for big ones too but big pots get heavy with so much grit. Color of your mix is very nice too - it depends on color of chicken grit a lot. What I bought in past, was white. Latest bag has some grayish speckles to it - it comes from different supplier I was told. Your plant has beautiful color. It is supposedly xPachysedsedum of uncertain origin, with one of the parents possibly S. craigii (responsible for color of leaves). It is suppose to grow several stems from the base, so I wonder if yours may be inflorescence? But it looks more like leaves, so maybe not. In case it blooms, pls. post photos! And do so even if it doesn't bloom :)
