You would have to do it for awhile to be sure the animals raiding your feeders get the idea that there will be no more nighttime munchies at your place. I am sorry that the mystery critters are ruining your plants. When you invest time, money and hard work in your gardens it is disheartening to go out and see something demolished. Unfortunately it is part of living near a wooded area (which I am assuming you do because of your reference to your trees). Some days I go out to see my snow-on-the-mountain looking like a grizzly bear rolled all over it. What animal did that? Who knows? It's frustrating. But what can you do? I guess the best we can do is find ways to limit access to the things attracting the animals that are doing the damage. For instance, if you thought deer might be involved, you might put up some fence to discourage their coming around. I wonder if your compost pile could be causing you trouble. Fresh food garbage of any kind is very tempting to raccoons and skunks I know (and probably the others). If the pile isn't in a secure container, that is probably attracting some of the above-mentioned animals. We used to have raccoons open our garbage cans and tip them over, especially if something aromatic was in there. And then who knows where they go when they are finished there. Garden vegetables, I don't know what to say except that they are always tempting to some animals, it's a pain. I've gone out and found things chewed off my plants, and tops of plants gone, etc. and never known what did it. Maybe a skunk, maybe a cute bunny, maybe a groundhog. "Rabbit fence" or something similar might help. In any case, good luck with this and stay with the forum, I haven't been here long but I've gotten a lot of really great, friendly advice....See MoreWhat food would you never eat...

It is a little mom and pop place that serves really good food. We use to go in there all the time and we did not know that they had started serving chitterlings on Wednesday nites starting at 4:30p.m. We walked in there and OMG is smelled like the sewer! We asked the hostess what the heck was wrong with their bathrooms...and she told us what they were serving. We walked OUT, NEVER to go back again. What was so bad, the parking lot was full....See MoreNestlé Purina does not utilize euthanized animals in pet food
Comments (6)They could get ingredients from rendering works - but maybe not the kind you are thinking of. Blood meal would be from a rendering plant - probably one that just did dried blood. It is the blood that is saved from the meat packing industry. This same blood meal can be in people food to. Hamburger patties that you buy might have it in it. Not all do, but it is definately in some hamburger products. Bone meal is also produced at a rendering plant, and that is used in pet food. Cattle feeders cannot use any of these products. Most people around here don't send their dead stock to the rendering plant anymore. THey either compost it or incinerate it. Most dead hogs are incinerated. They used to pay you to pick up your dead animals - now you pay them, and it is quite expensive....See MoreAnimal Planet's show abt Dog fighting
Comments (7)This show did pacify animal lovers. I'm so happy that the animals have been given another chance. I hate that they were left isolated for several weeks in a dark container whie a decision was being made on how to handle this situation. Unless I misunderstood, that one little female dog, Rose or Miss Rose, was in so much pain and beyond help that she had to be put down. Was she left that way for those weeks while the decision was being made or was that done when they were first confiscated? People who sponser those fights all over the country most likely don't watch Animal Planet, nor would they be interested in seeing it on another channel. I don't think this show will have any impact on them. I just hope and pray that neighbors or people who know where these fights are taking place will report them. They are low life scumbags who obviously have no regard for living beings. I wish they would be thrown into a pen with those dogs they trained to fight and suffer the consequences of their deeds....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
