I hate this trend and thought it was done, til I saw my 23 year old grand daughter wearing some. I guess it is supposed to make you think people are so actively casual that they wear holes in their jeans. Some of the holes are the butt area and their panties show BARF!

aside from that, I sure hope they are in for the long haul..he's said he'd never get married...

Look on the bright side, jeans with holes are much preferable to those awful saggy pants which were all the rage a few years ago. I still see people wear them, but they seem to have declined in popularity, at least in our area.

I agree with petra, don't like the jeans but they are better than the other....Funny story about the saggy ones...
A friend of mine rode the bus every day to work and one day, a young fellow got on wearing those baggy, saggy pants...Well, when he reached to get his money out of the pocket, the jeans fell down AND yep, you guessed it...He wasn't wearing any underwear....He quickly pulled them up and got off the bus..Well, much to everyone's disappointment, he didn't ride that bus again......

If she doesn't have a needle and thread she can borrow mine to patch up that hole.

Well, I suppose I'm the wrong generation for that. They look like my gardening jeans, I'll wear through the knees because I'm down on all 4s a lot of the time. I wouldn't wear them to the grocery store ;) On me, they wouldn't look trendy or stylish, they'd look worn out.

I don't understand it and would never buy a pair...its freaking stupid..it's stupid stylish leading stupid stylish...wanting to look like stupid stylish...

A few years back when we were moving from New Mexico to Oklahoma, I had saved out a well worn set of clothing with holes and stains to wear to clean out the house that last day. The plan was that I was going to clean and change into something nicer. Plans didn't go my way. My better clothes were packed up. I was stuck wearing the old clothes until we stopped for the night. We went to a truck stop for supper. I'm sure I looked pretty rough. The waitress must have felt really bad for me because she heavily discounted the meal. I was embarrassed. I tipped her well and threw those clothes away that night.

I am amused by people who buy and wear those jeans with holes. We live in the country and my husband and sons would get holes in their jeans (which I would mend) working outside.

Dumpster attire. Please don't stop and talk to me, you'll get some outright laughter. Don't know why to ruin good material, but how do they get the holes in there?

Recently I was crossing the street in my neighborhood shopping district. Coming the other way was a maybe-early-40ties woman, impeccably groomed head to toe, with stylish high-heeled shoes, beautiful blouse, etc. & a stupid-looking pair of perfectly fitted jeans with rips in each knee. I don't get it either.

All I can say when seeing that picture of Amal in her ripped jeans is, "I thought George Clooney had more class than that"!

Amal's look nice enough to greet the queen, in comparison to what Kim Kardashian wears, lol!

Those look good on you, Nicole. I remember standing behind a woman in the grocery checkout and her whole left butt cheek was exposed. She wasn't a bad looking woman, for her age, but she was no kid....and it only made her look like she was trying too hard. Like an older woman with a very nice tan, that I saw, wearing a cropped top and hip hugger jeans, who had a very large rhinestone in her navel....but she had so many lines radiating out from it, that it looked like rays of the sun. Trying too hard. Trying too hard. Tsk, tsk, tsk

I guess the joke's on me . . . I had lunch with my granddaughter today, and she looked great as always. She's beautiful no matter what she wears. I didn't notice until we left the restaurant and walked to our cars that she was wearing jeans with 10x bigger rips than Amal's. LOL

As for Amal I honestly didn't notice the ripped jeans because I was absolutely entranced with her hair. It's so thick and shiny ....and she just got off a plane.

I never have worn ripped jeans, but then my...not thighs, but whatever that is right above the kneecaps...do not need to be exhibited!

I've found that getting older has been accompanied by a certain puzzlement over things that younger people do (guys shave their heads?), but they're dressing & styling their hair for each other, not for me.

I don't like the ripped jeans either. I see a lot of high-school girls wearing them, too and I'm sure they cost big bucks.

The knees wore out on my jeans and I'd be so self-conscious wearing them out in public. I'd feel that everyone was staring at me. They're fine for cleaning the legion, or outside work.

My friend showed up wearing jeans with "x's" cut out along the side, showing skin in the cuts. We were shooting a Christmas charity....it seemed inappropriate in the middle of winter....I'm sure she was just trying to look casual and not so well monied....maybe....?

I figure that when they buy the branded clothing ,... at the big bucks ... they should tell the seller that if he doesn't want them to put duct tape over the name, he should pay them half of the price for the advertising that they do whenever they wear them.
