Don't just delete. be ssure to mark as spam first.

No can't say I am. My server has a pretty tight spam detection system. If you are opening and reading them that will encourage more....You should know which are spam w/o reading. Mark them as spam then delete. The more diligent you are the less of these you will invite.

And to think ... we used to get many of these via "snail mail" back in the day! When you reach a "certain age" you'll be getting hearing aid notices, funeral plan offers, retirement homes to consider. They all make me laugh and all are discarded before opening.

Yeah they are picking up here too. I heard that if the unwanted email has a button to "click here to unsubscribe" that you should not click on it because it lets the sender know that your email address is real. If you did subscribe to a site then it's ok to click on unsubscribe.

We have pretty tight filters too but one spammer got through, a couple a day for several days. DH dug deep, found it and blocked it, and tighted the filters even more.

I am too. But…I think it’s all the things I look at on FB and Instagram.

I just block them.

I have different emails for different purposes. My personal email for friends and family stays pretty clean. The email I use for purchases gets lots of stuff related to those vendors, but I just delete them without viewing them. It only takes a second. I get very few true spam emails.

I keep wanting to switch my primary email but it seems like a daunting task to figure out all who should or need to know. If I leave my email I want to leave it, not feel the need to come back and scroll through mountains of junk to see if I missed anything important.

A lot of mine are companies I don’t mind hearing from, but wish I’d just get an occasional sale announcement not a newly contrived sale each week and daily reminders about these sales. I have a mental image of young marketing majors trying to prove their worth by how many emails they can pump out a day.

My current routine is to go through a day’s worth, or two or three when forgotten, and delete, unsubscribe, or mark spam as needed. Seems fitting to perform this task on the toilet. I actually find this junk less offensive than all the paper that goes straight from mailbox tl recycle bin.

Oh, you're getting them on your new phone. I still get some addressed to someone named 'Nathan' on the phone I bought two years ago beginning the first day. Dating apps, weight loss options, more....But more like a dozen a week. I hardly ever use the phone, can't seem to get into the habit of carrying or depending on it. Maybe I'll take the time to get more used to it one day.

On my PC, I delete several ads each day and most are from companies I've done business with. I always wonder how many pairs of childrens pjs Hanna Andersson thinks one family can use. I buy Xmas Eve pajamas there for all the littles once a year and get pajama ads every day of the year then. They are 40% off right now if anyone is interested and they are great pjs!

i was getting so many of those and got so irritated, i started writing, in big red letters, "DECEASED" across the front and putting them back in my mailbox. haven't had any for quite a while now. 🤣

You can unsubscribe and they'll stop sending them. No need to be deleting constantly. There should be an unsubscribe button somewhere near the bottom of the email.

Had to smile reading OP. 114 useless emails in a week. That’s about what I get in a DAY on my primary account!

Suddenly there were a lot getting past the filters — “iCloud storage almost out of space, gonna lose ya data!” and phony Pay Pal invoices.

And, yes, you have to ”train” your email program — just mark the mail as spam or MARK, MOVE TO JUNK. The junk in that folder get automatically removed by the mail program. Do not interfere with it. And, of course, do not click on any option in the spam mail.
