Be patient-I'm trying to get pic sizes correct sorry
Comments (13)Thanks for all the kind comments. I've missed all the encouragement you get here. Thank goodness we were finally able to get high speed internet! The first thing I plan to do is touch up the rooster and nail the tin back onto the building. I've been considering what to plant by the barn. It's so hot in the summer I don't know what will survive. I do have a lot of mint at the front of the house I could try for green and the nice smell. Still not sure what to put in the pocket planters or the old tool box. A friend gave me the tub, but there's no base. Right now it's storing some PVC piping I wanted to use for a project. Thought about a water feature (but Tyrone the dog likes to drink out of my other fountains-grrr.) I also thought about doing the shrine thing, but not sure where to put it so it would stay upright on its end. Not sure what color to paint the outside either. Ideas??? I also have 2-3 old windows I scavenged, but not sure what the best way to hang them will be. They definitely need to be reinforced. I think I'd also like to attach the 2 old oilfield ladders to the barn to grow some morning glories on (thanks for the idea!). Just have to make sure they're very secure. Don't want 8 yo son to get any bright ideas about climbing them! I've been checking out some of y'all's pics and absolutely love them. Lots of inspiring ideas-thanks, ladies!...See MoreI'm sorry, I just can't get this !!!
Comments (17)I was making BBQ sauce. I have mostly Roma and Italia tomatoes, so I just wash them good and then cut them in half. I put them in the pans on low heat until they juiced up a bit (you can mush some too, to start) and once they get heating they juice up on their own. I added onion, celery seed and garlic, and then just let the mixture boil down. I think I let it boil for about an hour - it really was very mushy. Then I set up the KA with the food mill, and started ladleing the hot tomatoe mixture in - juice and all. I would do a bowl full, dump the bowl and then run the waste back through the mill a second time to get a bit more out. Then I'd toss that and start a next batch. I keep a large metal spoon and hand, and with each full bowl, I would take off the clear plastic cover and use the spoon to scrape the pulp off the seive. That kept it from plugged up and I did the whole batch without having to clean it. When I'm done, I use the garden spray nozel to blow the spiral clean. I also spray into the strainer and use the spoon to scrape the pulp clean - keep at it until it's all gone. My kitchen spayer does not have enough power to do an adequate job. I use to hate cleaning that thing, but now it's pretty easy. But I cheat as my garden hose spayer is in my summer kitchen. My KA has been spending a lot of time out there lately too (it's in the glass case)...See MoreI'm sorry, but I'm too upset to wait
Comments (18)Thanks so much, all of you. You know, my carpenter said several times, "I'm sure there's a solution to this. I just don't know what it is. Why don't you call a cabinet shop - they must have seen this before." I think I couldn't hear it because I was too upset. The cabinet company won't work - it's Ikea. (That's another reason why I've been upset about this. I see money flying out the window, and my budget is very tight already.) But there is a custom cabinet shop nearby that does gorgeous work. (I would have gone with them had I been able to afford it.) Maybe someone there will be willing to take the job. Bmorepanic, I agree with you - they shouldn't have installed the counter. Unfortunately, the installers relied on their templater's measurements, and had the counter installed before they discovered the problem. It was my own fault that I ordered a cooktop that's too large for the cabinet, but if the cooktop cutout had been made correctly, I would have discovered the issue during dry-fitting, when there was time for my carpenter to fix it. Boxerpups, I discovered that Microtrim site, but it specifically says that the trim is just aesthetic - it supplies no support. Footballmom, I had the same idea. If I can't find a finish carpenter who will try to remove the excess cabinet, I will ask the granite people if they'll glue some strips on to make the opening smaller. I'm feeling so much better after reading the posts by people who think it can be done. (And after sleeping, of course!) I just wish I didn't have to go to work, so I could start calling around right now!...See MoreHey guys... I'm sorry.. but, can I talk to ya for a min.?
Comments (24)Nicki, nothing stays the same. Nothing at all. Everything is constantly undergoing change. First of all, you have got to clear your mind. Stop drinking or using anything for a crutch. Sit quietly and think about the person you want to be. Think about the steps you need to make to be that person. Start small. You have little girls and their minds are like a sponge. Find something you can teach them. Their appreciation and joy in new things will help you. Set aside time every day for them and some for yourself, but don't spend a lot of time worrying about whether other people like you or not, or hanging with people who will bring you down. Don't "party"...whatever that means. If you have to make new friends...then be on the look out for some that are the kind of people you want to be around. Take part in your daughters' activities at school, when work permits. If anyone brings you down...or is a bad influence on you...cut them loose. I had to do that, myself, in order to be at peace. There are always people who have nothing to do but sit around and drink and stir up trouble. I know you are a very pretty girl. I've seen your pictures. There is nothing attractive about a woman who drinks too much. You don't want your children to grow up and remember you as an alcoholic. It's a waste of precious time and money. Nicki, you can change, but you have to start taking care of yourself, and that means putting you and the girls first. It takes a little strength to do that, but it gets easier all the time....See MoreUser
