I had a cup of my homemade vegetable soup. Also a romaine lettuce leaf 'sandwich' with chicken, onions, and yellow tomatoes on it. Very easy and not enough dishes to bother washing up today.

Oh my schoolhouse. That's exactly what I was planning on having tonight. I even remembered to get some anchovies for the dressing. However, I ran some errands this afternoon and got home later than expected and then, I forgot to defrost some chicken. I was going to still make the Caesar salad but with some shrimp instead. Then I decided, as long as I'm cooking up shrimp, I might as well make a pasta dish instead. So I sauteed they shrimp in a little bit of butter, olive oil and garlic, threw in some diced onions, too. Removed the shrimp and added some fresh tomatoes, fresh basil and parsley, salt and pepper, a dash of red pepper flakes., some fresh lemon juice, a little pasta water and some freshly grated parmesan cheese. Put the shrimp back in, and mixed it all together and served over pasta. It was very tasty and didn't take much longer than it took to cook the pasta.

Dairy Queen for a footlong hot dog with kraut and chili, but when I got home, no chili. Ate it without the bun. I was in a big hurry to meet a friend to go look for her a mirror.

We're having chicken salad sandwiches with avocado and broccoli slaw. Maybe I'll bake some pears for dessert.

I had a late lunch with two of my girls. We were in another town and Cheryl and I had a meal from Long John's, not my favorite and when Amber was finished at the chiropractor she had something from Rally's. Cheryl and I had ice cream from McDonald's. Ice cream cones are still $.49 each. So this evening I snacked on a bunch of cherry tomatoes from Amber's garden, yummy! It has been another full day of running around with my girls. :)

Took some spicy meatballs out of the freezer and re-heated them. Rice and stir-fried broccoli, onions and peppers alongside.

Local watermelon for dessert. Normally the seedless ones are tasteless but they must love heat and dry weather. This one is outrageously sweet.

I forgot to add that Harry and I split a really big cinnamon swirl muffin with a streusel topping from the same shop. I was definitely not from a mix and she had just taken them from the oven. Still warm when we got home. Yum!

Gadgets, we used to eat a lot of those lettuce sandwiches when Harry was doing low-carb. They taste just as good to me as bread. Love veggie soup but it's too stinkin' hot to eat today.

I love steak and gravy with mashed potatoes. Was it cubed steak or like Swiss steak? Either one's a winner around here. And for some reason we always have green beans. Maybe because my mother did.

Now I could've eaten your chicken Caesar salad. Maybe we'll do that tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Glenda, what a disappointment. I totally love DQ's chili dogs. I think I'd have to take it back--but then again--the heat! I'm sure you're just as warm.

Your pasta salad sounds light and yummy, Georgysmom. Looks like a good way to use up some tomatoes I've accumulated.

Socks, I got an avocado at the store yesterday with the intention of having it on a hamburger, but it sounds better with chicken. I really like broccoli slaw, but Harry isn't crazy about it. Go figure--broccoli is his favorite vegetable.

Sounds like a fun day for you, Sue. Funny you mentioned ice cream cones. I picked up a menu from the ice cream shop around the corner from where we picked up lunch and a single scoop of ice cream in a cone is $2.49. If you want a waffle cone, add 50 cents. Woozer! I bet they don't stay in business long.

I need to make more meatballs for the freezer, Jasdip. They're so handy to have around. I don't like those seedless melons either. Never have had any luck with them. I've spoiled Harry, so now I have to cut everything into chunks and keep in big bowls in the frig. That goes for any melon. I just cut all the rind off first, then slice and dice away. Not as messy that way and it's faster.

Having cut-up melons in a bowl, vs having to haul the half out and then slice a piece is so much easier! Throwing some chunks of cantaloupe and watermelon in a bowl topped with yogurt is a favourite snack for us.

I made a batch of tuna salad with my boiled and peeled eggs I bought. We love freshly made Tuna salad sandwiches.

I guess I haven't had a store-bought ice cream cone for a while, Glenda. The price seemed atrocious to me. I remember when I was in high school and working as a soda jerk a one scoop cone costed 5 cents. Two scoops for a dime.
