What's for Dinner, Thursday?

Gorgeous day here, sunny and breezy, with a high of 23C (73F).
I hung out some laundry, and did some things around the apartment.

It was either chicken for dinner, or french toast and hubby chose the french toast. There were 3 apples that needed to be used up so I served them with the french toast (simmered in butter and brown sugar).

At least I know what dinner will be tomorrow nite!

Today was a little warmer, mostly sunny, with some breeze here in Ohio.

Supper was all leftovers, split pea soup, a meat muffin, and some mac/cheese. Tomato slices, but they were almost tasteless.

It was muggy here in central Illinois. No (as in zilch) air movement.

Italian sausage links in bits in a white wine sauce and tomatoes from the garden with noodles and smothered with Parmesan cheese. I pulled the last of the second crop of green beans and that will go with the rest.

Jim, I always make extra potatoes to have fried. Whether boiled or mashed. Yummmm a nice crust on fried mashed potatoes. A Reuben has always intrigued me because I love sauerkraut, but have never had one, Pam. Raven that is true comfort food isn't it? GM, your pastas always sound so good. Shirley, your tilapia reminds me that I must take some fish from the freezer and have a fillet. Jim you went to a lot of work with your pizza. Sounds delicious.

Mimipadv......we always find that the pineapples get sweeter when we leave them on the counter for a couple of days. When they start to smell like a pineapple we cut it open. Your pork chop dinner sounds delicious. It was cold enough that I was wanting a beef roast. Party, today was definitely chili weather in your area and ours (and Gadgets') Pam what a treat, having filet mignon!! Good for you! Rhizo, I have the urge for quinoa tabbuleh and your dinner confirmed my taste buds wanting that. That's a summer dish for me. Gadgets your chicken and potato wedges sounds good to me too!

This won't be the healthiest dinner posted, but I've had about 30 interruptions today and I don't even have sheets back on the bed from this mornings laundry yet. Just sat down to do DH's invoicing, I'm having two Tylenol and a glass of iced tea. Asked DH, would you like bacon, toast and eggs, or do you want to grill hamburgers for us, and he said bacon and eggs ;)

Jasdip, we put a big pork butt on the grill over the weekend and enjoyed it with a pile of slaw. It's a full day commitment but seemed like a good Labor Day weekend project. Last night, I made a garlicky, gingery chicken stir fry with lots of fresh vegetables, served with brown rice and toasted almonds. I don't know why I don't make something like that more often, it's a favorite.

Sun came out this afternoon. Had a house showing this afternoon. Hubby is playing golf. Grandson and I got pizza and brought it home. Jasdip, I wish my hubby would eat stuff your hubby does. And how is he doing on the two health issues?

Hi Pam!
We go on Tuesday to the opthamologist. He'll do some eye exams and hopefully we'll get a date for surgery. Poor guy, when I want him to see something in the paper, he has to put his head right down with a magnifying glass to read it.

The other issue is getting better and better. He still wears the Depends undergarments but I've convinced him to not wear them when we're at home. He wears them to sleep in though, just in case. It's only been 3 months since the surgery and he's doing good.

We had some spinach ravioli with marinara sauce. It was just beautiful here today. Played 18 holes of golf and then ran some errands. Didn't really feel much like cooking when I got home The ravioli is organic from Costco. It's really good with some home made marinara and some freshly grated Parmesan.

Thermometer still reading 100 degrees on our patio at 5:00 p.m. Making a big Romano Crusted Chicken Caesar Salad for dinner. Which will be eaten in the bedroom (only air conditioning in the house), in front of the TV.

90 called for Happy Hour at the sandbox. Perfect. Quick Liverwurst sammich, and a huge soccer ball size Indiana Muskmelon. Juicy & delicious. Stuffed Green Peppers in the oven, but that's for tomorrow & Sat. Ah, sounds like some ice cream calling too.

Four cheese tortellini with chicken/sun dried tomato sausage, with mushrooms, artichoke hearts, olives, in a pesto/cream/wine sauce.

Shirley, our weather is very similar, and today was nice, wasn't it?
Your meal is nice and comforting. I couldn't imagine not having leftovers, or living with someone who doesn't like them. I know people like that, and it's a fresh meal every nite.

Jim, how nice having tomatoes and green beans from the garden. Our tomatoes aren't even ripening yet. The landlords gave us a bunch of pole beans, which are long and flat and they went into the soup the other day. They were really good.

Raven, was your dinner as good as it sounds?? Do tell.

Pam, pizza is good anytime but I'm sure even more so, with your grandson

Georgy ravioli with your marinara sauce would be awesome!

Rhizo, hubby loves ordering BLT's for breakfast when we go out.

Angela, I'll take my cool summer over your heat any day! But a chicken salad is perfect.

OF, you must finally be happy! You got some summer temperatures. And you still put the oven on! :)
