Hi Ellen,
We celebrated hubby having his "rigging" and staples removed today by having take-out fish and chips for a late lunch.

I heated some leftover veggies as a snack this evening, as well.

Left overs all around....buttered noodles, baked yam, and sauteed green pepper/onion

Shirley, our weather is very similar, and today was nice, wasn't it? Your meal is nice and comforting. I couldn't imagine not having leftovers, or living with someone who doesn't like them. I know people like that, and it's a fresh meal every nite. Jim, how nice having tomatoes and green beans from the garden. Our tomatoes aren't even ripening yet. The landlords gave us a bunch of pole beans, which are long and flat and they went into the soup the other day. They were really good. Raven, was your dinner as good as it sounds?? Do tell. Pam, pizza is good anytime but I'm sure even more so, with your grandson Georgy ravioli with your marinara sauce would be awesome! Rhizo, hubby loves ordering BLT's for breakfast when we go out. Angela, I'll take my cool summer over your heat any day! But a chicken salad is perfect. OF, you must finally be happy! You got some summer temperatures. And you still put the oven on! :)

Soft foods...yuck!!! I had sinus surgery last Friday and still can't do any chewing for another week. I am sick of yogurt, broth, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc... My dream meal for tonight is a crusty sourdough baguette slice topped with olive tapenade. My entree will be a steak with sautÃÂ©ed mushrooms and a ceasar salad and more crusty bread! A big peanut butter cookie for dessert!

Raven your shrimp dish always sounds good! I'll have to see if you've posted the recipe. Lindy I like chewy brownies with nuts. I'll bet your house smells heavenly! LOL Prairie Rose. You're so kind! Well, I woke up this morning and hubby had 2 pounds of ground beef and 1 pound of sausage thawing in the refrigerator. Cans of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and tomato paste were on the kitchen counter next to the stove. I took a guess that was a pretty good hint that he was ready for another big pot of spaghetti sauce. We had a huge shrimp salad, spaghetti, and garlic bread.

Leftovers here, too!
Super-lean ground turkey chili, fake (no fat) cheese, corn tortillas and jalapeÃÂ±os. Really yummy!

Today was my day to do my big grocery shopping. Too tired to even think of cooking so brought home a big chicken sandwich from Burger King, plus I ate half of a Snickers pb candy bar.

I'm about to turn on the ac.....in mid 80s today. Furnace was running earlier in the week.

My garden club took a bus trip to a huge plant nursery, then to lunch at Landry's Seafood right on the water at the Kemah boardwalk. Then we did the rounds of the boardwalk and the shops. Then back on the bus for the ride home.

Great time and I got so many beautiful plants.

Tonight I cooked brats for the hubby.

Pork scallopini, baked rice, fresh, organic broccoli, organic carrots, artichoke and a little bit of fresh red stripped beets.
I love the community supported agriculture we get. Locally grown and most of the stuff is certified organic.

I made the hubby Hammy Whammies! Roasted ham on toasted hamburger buns with melted cheddar cheese and fried eggs on top, with potato salad, cottage cheese and fresh tomatoes. I had a couple bites of my leftover steak from last night.

We went over to some friends' home for a simple dinner and a lot of fun. I swear that my tummy muscles hurt today from laughing.

They grilled some fresh snapper and dolphin (mahi mahi) brought back from their recent fishing trip. It was so good, I hated to swallow! We also grilled some fresh zucchini, and enjoyed a cold couscous and quinoa salad.

I brought some Haagen-Daz limoncello gelato and homemade shortbread cookies. I must never-buy-the-gelato-again. Holy moly.
