What's for dinner on Thursday?

My potatoes are getting old so I cooked a large pot of them with the skins on. We slathered butter and sour cream on them.

I made meatballs (Party don't look, it's ground beef!), and simmered them in a ketchup, vinegar and soy sauce mixture. Microed some cauliflower as well. Dinner was great!

Last night I had...filet mignon, baked potato & grilled asparagus. Tonight I'm just gonna snack..as I had a late lunch.

Some really tasty sauerkraut from the freezer cooked with chicken and ham and some boiled potatoes. And for dessert we are having some Satsuma tangerines grown on the next farm over from my BBF's farm. We get them in our community supported agriculture (CSA) box. They are the best I have tasted in years.

Ravencajun, I have some beef ribs in the freezer--think I'll copycat your recipe. Not so crazy about beef ribs but they were on sale at some point. Gadgets, you put me to shame because you always seem to eat so healthy. Need to take some lessons from you!! Pam, nothing tastes better than a well-done (as in blackened) hot dog from the grill. Love cucumber salad too. I make mine in a creamy sauce with dill, but like the vinegar onion cucumber salad, too. How do you make yours? Georgysmom, I'll sure be glad when you're home--miss you so much here!! I read in your other post about being tired of eating out and understand that feeling. Although I could use about a week of it right now. This hot weather makes me lose my appetite. Not that THAT would be a bad thing since I have 15 pounds to lose. Kathleen, we had rain sometime in the night and it was cool and breezy this morning. It felt wonderful, but warmed up fast. Hope you're feeling better. I had to turn the air on because it was making me feel a little queasy and knew I wouldn't sleep with it so hot. When I turned it on, it was 83 inside. Groan!

Lima beans are something Robert and I both love and they often end up as an ingredient in my mixed grains and rice dishes. Love them, too, with smoked sausage. Sloppy Joes are kind of a treat around here....I don't make them nearly often enough. So tasty, aren't they? Fifteen minutes of 'rest', lololol! Your supper sounds perfect for your grandkids.....bet they have been happy campers, just like you. I sure have been in your position, ellendi. It's so easy to enjoy the heck out of good food when traveling, isn't it? I've got all of the ingredients to make pizza this weekend. Haven't found a local source for good pizza here, though I haven't looked very hard. I look forward to making it.

Jasdip, we put a big pork butt on the grill over the weekend and enjoyed it with a pile of slaw. It's a full day commitment but seemed like a good Labor Day weekend project. Last night, I made a garlicky, gingery chicken stir fry with lots of fresh vegetables, served with brown rice and toasted almonds. I don't know why I don't make something like that more often, it's a favorite.

Chilly day today. I had a bowl of chicken/vegetable/barley soup. Baked some frozen fish filets. Dipped them in some leftover McD's hot mustard sauce.

I just noticed that I called out Party, not to look as I was using hamburger tonite. I meant to say Prairie, as she was saying that her hubby takes hamburger out of the freezer each day. I didn't realize that the edit button disappeared after a period of time.

I made chicken thighs in garlic and oil, broccoli and baked potato. We had a beautiful sunny day here today.

I met some friends at a small Greek place for dinner. Had a gyro, small salad and rice. It was good and had good company too.

My birthday group celebrated the 80th birthday of two of my friends. We took them to their restaurant of choice. I had soft shell crab and shrimp. Twas good.

We had homemade pizza with sweet Italian sausage, basil, tomato slices, baby portabella mushrooms, fresh mozzarella. Had a nice salad on the side.

Audrey, we love grilled asparagus. Is it available already where you are?

Raven every once in a while I crave tacos and taco salad. You made me crave it again.

Gadgets, I'm out of fish, and it's something that we need to eat more often. Mind you, I took hubby out for fish and chips last Sunday and it cost me $50!!

Pam I found some neat recipes for thighs that I'm going to try this weekend. I finally convinced hubby that thighs taste good!

Satine, Greek food and good friends. A perfect match.

GM, you eat so well, either out or at home.

Rhizo, it's a change not to see you post your healthy rice and beans, quinoa mix etc. Your pizza sounds great. Did you put it on the barbecue?

Halibut steaks steamed over onions, spicy tomato angel hair pasta, steamed asparagus. Very good. I am stuffed!

Jasdip, lol....I don't have rice and grains that often, do I? We don't eat white potatoes but once or twice a year and pasta rarely, so it is our go-to starch, I guess.

Nope, the pizza went into the oven..I made a tomato sauce with garlic and it smelled sooooo good baking.

I'm going to fix chi83's polenta recipe tonight and I'm excited.

jasdip, I read this last night and stopped cold at the warning for me.... I couldn't figure out WHY I shouldn't look -- unless you realized that you've never seen me post about any meal with hamburger in it. lol! :O)
