I haven't seen a photo of your bathroom, but I don't really care for greens in the bath. And since green is my favorite--Plus--much of my home is painted sage or muted brown/green, it's a miracle I've never considered it for a bath. Your valance is extremely pretty. I agree that the deep burgundy will just be too much in there. Unless you need some more abundant color, why not try this.......Paint the bath a shade of deep cream or soft oatmeal, just a shade or two lighter than the wheat in the ground of your valance. Buy a nice shower curtain, (I love the terry or picque or heavy cotton linen looks I've seen at HomeGoods) in a solid or textural fabric. Now, buy your towels in the accent colors of the valance.......the sage, the rose, maybe a deep wheat. Use the valance florals for accent and keep your background linen-like. shee, it's difficult to say what color the fabric is looking at it from the monitor, but I would say more gold than yellow. For my shower curtain, since it is just one piece, I'm going to get the seamstress to put the holes so I can hang it from plain hooks and I'll have the liner on the same hooks and when the curtain is in use the decorative part will set outside the tub. The rod pocket is for just the valance which will be on a seperate poll. Also, my seamstreass was suppose to do this but she didn't. There is a waterproof fabric that you can use as the liner for your curtain which will offer it more protection from water and if I remember correctly it's also mildew proof. You asked about the height to hang. My curtain is a basic size so it will hang like your current one is now, just above the top of the tub surround.

If you search "custom valance" on etsy there are many people that have fabrics you can choose from. I imagine if you ask many would be willing to work with your fabric if you find one you like. (From just a quick search it looks like this seller has a lot of earth tones available and great reviews: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheCurtainShop) Also, look in to a local upholstery shop. That's where I got my custom kitchen curtains made because I felt they were past my skill set. JoAnn's has tons of fabrics on hand, and many more they can order. You can also look through pattern books there for ideas. They might also know someone that can do it for you. Good luck!

No, sorry, I only have this one inspiration pix. I like the whole room, but what I like about the curtain -- in this order -- is: The toile fabric, the bit of fancy at the hem, and the unexpected shape of the valance. With that said, hang on ... with the words "Empire" and "Florentine" at my service, I've been learning. Empire seems to have been the most popular term, though the two seem to be interchangeable. The word "Regency" popped up too. Apparently this type of valance is more often seen over drapes, and it is a formal thing. "Formal" did not occur to me in my inspiration pix, though -- yeah -- I see it. This type of valance is made up of "swags" (which I could've told you) and "trumpets" (which I did not know). You must have a minimum of two swags and three trumps (I think I could've figured that one for myself), though I personally think I prefer this as a wider valance with more swags and trumpets. Pictures I found instructive: This one seems to be most like my inspiration pix; however, I don't like that this one is a bit see-through, and I can see that it could not be lined. I'm not completely clear on how it stays so nicely "ruched". I had suspected buttons were involved, but -- in this example -- that seems to be false. Apparently the fancy-bits at the hem are mandatory. Apparently it's easy to go overboard (or, Full-on 80s) with this style. Maybe I prefer a more simple style -- I can see how this look is created, and it might be easier to "keep looking nice". This similar style, I learned is called a Cuff Top curtain. The easiest thing here, it's just a straight piece of fabric with clips attached to rings. I like it, and easy is nice. I note that this example is lined (which is my preference), and I could choose a better trim -- I definitely like the trim on the other examples /the ones that "dip below the hem" more than this example. This similar style is called a Medallion Curtain. I personally don't care for it. I suspect it needs some sort of support to keep it straight over time. I found examples of this type of curtain over arch-top windows, which makes sense. Again, this curtain could be titled Straight-outta-the-80s.
