Share Your Suggestions for These Exteriors, Patios and Baths!
We all want to put our best foot forward when it comes to the design of our houses. For that reason, Houzzers this week are focusing on improving the first impression that all houses make on the world: their exteriors. For good measure we've thrown two bathroom dilemmas into the mix. Answer one, two, or all five questions in this week's Houzz Design Dilemma roundup.
2. How can I enhance the exterior my 1970s contemporary house?
"My husband and I purchased this home last year in Tallahassee, Florida. It is a contemporary design built in 1972 and sits on an acre and a half of heavily wooded land. It has wood siding and is painted a light gray ... ALL OVER! Although I like the design of my house I think its a one-dimensional gray blob. I would like to modernize its facade. How do I do this?" Answer here.

3. What are some affordable ideas for my backyard patio?
"The patios have problems and I need help and suggestions. Here is the criteria for them — affordable; anti-wasp nest and/or anti-bug; non-invasive roots — plumbing/septic/electrical/heat is all in this area. I am including photos throughout the back yard so you can get an idea of the flow / rural setting." Answer here.

4. How do I finish the bathroom in my cozy cottage?
"This is the shell of our new bathroom. The tub will go inside the stone-walled alcove. There will be two 36"-wide vanities with undermount rectangular sinks, one on each side of the alcove and perpendicular to the tub. The toilet will be in a separate room and there will be a separate shower. Two walls of the shower will be glass the other two, tile. I need help with colors and ideas for the floor, countertops, tub platform, tile, vanities, and paint. the room is fairly dark, even with the bump-out and roof window. Faucets and wall scones are polished chrome, sinks, drop-in Kohler Portrait tub, and toilet are white. Thanks for your help!"

5. How can I make the most of my tiny bathroom?
"I recently purchased my first home in Philadelphia with 2 bedrooms and one very small bathroom. At this point, adding on to the house is not an option for me so I have to work with the space I have. I'd like to renovate the bathroom and utilize the space as best as possible but it's so small. From front to back the room is 83" and left to right 52". The tub stretches left to right across the back wall, while the sink and toilet line the left wall. I'm looking for a modern look that will offer the most sink-top space but won't break the bank. Should I go with a shower only and remove the tub or will that lower the value of my house? What suggestions do you have for design/layout for this tiny bathroom?" Answer here.

"I recently purchased this home, although it is in a wonderful location, the outside of the home is very dated. I would be very grateful for any of your suggestions on how to update the exterior of this home. Good luck with this one." Answer here.
