Question about mixing dining room chairs
Comments (14)Slinkey: You're the one I saw recently with the wood table and Parson's chairs! I love your set. But I think you're pretty far from TX, aren't you?? ^_^ Susan209: I got on Craigslist all the time! And I would totally consider getting a second-hand one. Biggest issue is having the cash for one (where at a store I could pay for it in installments). But, I keep my eyes peeled. Although, just yesterday I found someone selling 6 Parson's chairs (with decent slipcovers) for $50 each. So, things are out there. Joann and Linda: Thank you for the wise advice. You're right about taking my time. My husband has already suggested getting one of those folding tables anyway, and with 9-10 adults and 7 kids (ranging from 1 yr to 18) slated for Thanksgiving, they wouldn't all fit at a formal table that would fit in that space anyway. And, of course, another issue is money. I'd rather save for something nice than put something on credit (and then have something happen where we couldn't pay off, ya know?). That's why I love coming here and reading everyone's points of view -- many, many years of experience. Thanks again! You've given me much to think about (and I really do think that maybe the rented/folding table and chairs may be a better solution for Thanksgiving, and I won't feel so frazzled to get a house in order and new furniture in and can focus on what matters most -- family!). *hugs to all* ^_^...See MoreHelp me choose fabric for my dining room chairs, please
Comments (11)Select a fabric that brings out the best in the wood finish so that your chairs don't appear so flat. Additionally, are you adding padding or batting so that there is a slight curve to the top of the seat? Right now the seats appear concave. If they were my chairs I would cover the seats in Raffia Cloth. You can simply wipe any spills off the straw You want the Raffia or Madagascar Cloth that has a fabric backing so that it's easier to staple and sew. https://www.caneandbasket.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=67 http://www.franksupply.com/raffia/supplies.html#raffiafabric...See MoreWhich swivel fabric would you choose for swivel chair to go w leather?
Comments (3)Based on what I see you have far too much furniture in the space, I assume the area is not on the order of 23 to 25 feet in each direction? With a dual recliner sofa, the center ottoman is redundant and in my opinion you have two too many chairs in the space. One sofa, two chairs and that's it - plus side tables But that's not hard and fast, scale drawings are needed to know for sure. Perhaps don't buy everything at once - start with the sofa and two chairs, then get it in the space and go from there....See MoreHelp me choose chairs to go with a 17th century dining table!
Comments (118)Hey fellow chair lovers! So, i made a decision 😬 i ordered 2 arch chairs from Sarah Ellison. And I got the big hairy light 😅 we obviously went over budget on the chairs, but they were just exactly right for me. I love the molded seat and postmodern column legs against the tables curves. we’ll do a bench at the back side (still considering a built in) Pictures below of the chairs, the light and a little mock up I did. Thanks again for such a fun and informative thread!...See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
