Help me Find 2 Dining Chairs for the Heads of the Table!
Comments (25)Thanks Sea, you are right the Parson is about 4" taller than the table, i believe the table is 30" and the parsons are 34". I just always thought the chairs at the end of the tables were supposed to be taller, but the ikea option at that price would be very attractive. My girlfriend is flipping out regarding mixing the wood legs with chrome, she thinks it doesnt work, but then again shes not a designer either lol. I guess in terms of making the table look more substantial in the room, it should look more substantial when that chandelier is over it, and when I add a buffet table in the room. So I guess it really isnt an issue. I may check out those ikea chairs soon...See MoreHelp me choose a dining table & Cab Color Please! : )
Comments (40)mtnfever- thanks! Do you think that look goes better with my kitchen/DR than the Tarvine? I know the Tarvine is more fancy but think it could work anyway. I do like the simplicity of the Toscana. I wish I could see the top of it better. The Pottery Barn Frances has a plank look and looks like crumbs would get stuck in between. Also, what are all of your thoughts on doing a bench like mtnfever shows above? Actually I like the idea. I know some don't like them for getting in and out and agree that on the other side of the table the banquette bench will be a little more an issue for that. However, for this type of bench people usually just "lift a leg" and get out with out sliding down. Of course, I guess you lose the comfortability of having a chair with a back on it.. Then again, Not too often do people lean back on them during eating.... I guess more during before and after dinner conversation. A plus is that they are sometimes less $ than getting separate chairs. Christine, My fabric is not great, I think, for the banquette seat b/c it's a light fabric (in color and weight)... however maybe for some pillows. For The window seat in the same room I may use the bird fabric for the seat or again for some pillows. Maybe I could use it for a table runner : )...See MoreHelp choosing a durable dining table and chairs
Comments (12)Not sure if that is really spam - it would have been on the old GW, but Houzz seems to encourage companies to promote themselves here. I have a Pro Houzz account at work (for another furniture company), and Houzz keeps trying to get me to promote the company even more. I have not really checked to see what their policies are, as I joined Houzz at work mainly to do research to see what other furniture companies were doing and to compare various existing designs - not to promote the company where I work. The company I work for is not in your price range, but I would recommend going to estate sales and find some vintage mid-century furniture. That's how I got my dining set, but it only seats six. For sturdiness, a trestle style table works very well, but they usually do not have extensions. I used to have a table like this in my dining room, and I especially liked it because it was so sturdy and so I liked using it as a sewing table because it had absolutely no wobble. It was also great for laying out fabric for cutting patterns. It was easy to disassemble, and I have it stored flat on an upper shelf in my garage at the moment - I just couldn't get rid of it!...See MoreHelp me choose dining room chairs to match table
Comments (12)Check out Carrington Court Chairs online. They are reasonably priced, you can pick from their fabrics or send your own. They have numerous styles to choose from. I ordered a chair for a desk we use occasionally. I sent my own fabric and am very pleased with the chair...nice upholstery job and they have good customer service....See MoreRelated Professionals
