I recently was watching Sarah Richardson on TV, and she said had swivel mechanisms put on a pair of vintage chairs she had found for the room she was doing. She said the cost was about $150. You may want to check with an upholsterer to see how easy it is to put them on. The upholsterer could tell you what kind of base you need on the chair in order for them to add it. Definitely check out Les' link to Lee Furniture. All of my upholstered pieces are from them, and they are wonderful. I have chairs with the wheels, they do mark up my hardwood floors and are a bit hard to turn on my rug. I did get a Lee slipcovered swivel glider for Emmas' nursery that I love. We had big beautiful wood stools with upholstered bottoms that swiveled and carved wood backs w/ arms AND we now have the saddle stools. The ones w/ a back swiveled and as much as I loved the look of them, we had some problems. First, any swiveling banged them into the counter (either when you were sitting in them or you were trying to get into them) which resulted in the gorgeous arms of the stools having dents and chips in them (metal ones would have chipped the island granite) - also, because of the back, kids were most likely to lean back in them....despite my warnings, my now 9 yr old leaned *too far* back which resulted in him and the stool going crashing to the floor, his head had a massive egg on it and the wonderful thick wood-carved back of the stool cracked and broke. Suffice it to say, I left those stools with the house when we moved. This time around, I went with the saddle stools - I think rhome's right in that some of them can be uncomfortable but like any stool you buy, you have to sit in them first. I've tried saddle stools from Pier 1, Target, BB&B, etc and some were fine, others were not. We actually ended up getting ours online (a neighbor had the same ones) but I got them *unfinished* and shipped them to my cabinet people who then painted and glazed them to match some of the cabinet pieces in our kitchen. Both kids and adults sit in them and I always hear the same thing from a first-time user...."Oh, these are more comfortable then I expected!" -- what I like is that my kids don't lean back in them and neither the stools nor my counter are getting chipped. They're also great because they tuck completely under the overhang.

@Runnermom - do you still like your Aiden Swivel chairs? My SO has been trying to get me to order the Irving Roll arm leather chair w nailheads for about a year - for the hearth area in my kitchen. I hadn’t ever bought anything from Pottery Barn before - until about a month ago when I ordered one of their toddler Anywhere Chairs that can be embroidered with the child’s name across the back. That purchase was great - but it was about $140 kid’s chair! My SO is purchasing the chairs - he doesn’t like my rattan furniture (with leather cushions) love seat/chair/ottoman that i currently have in that spot. I don’t use that area really - but he likes watching sports there when my daughter and I are watching something else in the family room (I just cannot get into watching golf on TV - and while I like watching ”my” sports teams play football/basketball - I dont like watching random teams). He brought them up again this past weekend because it was finally cold enough to use the fireplace - he wound up bringing my leather wingback chair/ottoman out of my study and putting it in front of the fireplace. I’ve been selecting bacsically everything we’ve bought so far, so I decided to look at the dimensions to make sure that they’d work in the space. While I liked the width/depth - was surprised about the overall height - seemed short (obviously, much shorter than my windgback chair - which I’ve had for almost 20 years - and still looks great and is super comfy). I am pretty sure that he looked at them in the store - but I dont know how long he sat in them. . . Anyway - he likes the ”look” of PB stuff - so, I thought that maybe I could get him to switch to another PB chair - and I like yours. Thanks!

Thank you everyone! I do appreciate and like all of the suggestions! It's such a hard choice and I am not sure what direction to go. I am kinda leaning toward one of the more neutral options- both my spouse and I like this one: However, I feel that this more neutral rug might be too safe of an option. The reason why we are getting a new rug is because the current rug looks way to small and does not add anything to the room (appears more or less as a solid silver/light gray color) and just looks "blah." And I want a rug that gives a more warm/welcoming feeling. The obstacle we are running into is trying to determine if the more oriental/persian rugs with more color would clash with the ottoman fabric too much. We might have to wait until we see how the sofa and ottoman look in person to get a better picture. Hopefully we can do a mock up with all the actual furniture in place to help decide. I think it will take some time still to come to a decision since I am so indecisive and it seems what I like changes all the time. The other question is about rug size- we are looking at 9x12 and 10x14 size options- I like the extra room around the furniture that a 10x14 affords us.
