Thanks all. Chris: If Joshua S. increases enough next year, I can send you some to try out. It reminds me of SELF DETERMINATION but with a bigger bloom, at least here in my garden. The sun is shining this morning but more rain is suppose to come this afternoon. In the meantime, hubby and I are building some trelles for my clematis I got this year. We have never done a project like this before so we are learning as we go along. Table saw, routers, drills, which screws to use..... I may become a master carpenter before I become a master gardener ;-). Have a great day everyone. Julia

Goodbye Miele W4842, Hello Electrolux Wave Touch

    Q

    Comments (22)
Larsi, today we went to set up return for Electrolux washer that was having problems. The guy at appliance who sold it to us said that we needed to call Electrolux, tell them the prob and ask for a R.C.M number, then call him with it and he will order me another one, so that they can get refunded from Electrolux. Electrolux wanted to send out a service repair. I told them that i didn't trust this machine due to the rubbing and had called the authorized repair man, told him the prob and he said he would ask for a new one, as this could be seal or tub or both. He said he wouldnt keep one that was bad from day one. So after Electrolux figured out i wasnt going the repair route, they told me to call the store and tell them they had a seven day return policy. Told her it was delevered last thurs.and that store was passing buck to them. Electrolux got the store on the phone, told them i said no repair and then electrolux said the 7 day return policy for a electrolux did not start until unit was delivered, not from purchase date! Store said it would get with their RCM people and that electrolux may give them some credit for it. I am not sure they will get full credit. Anyway, i should hear from store tomorrow to tell me that they have ordered me another set as the dryer was dammaged and they did not check it over before delivery. I don't think that it was my place to have to do all the leg work. It should have been store, but salseman said if i called that it would carry more weight. I think that he knew that i would be told to have it repaired and he just didn't want to tell us that. I will rest easier when they call tomorrow with a time line of when new set is in. They will reverse the dryer door as they didn't do it with this one even though i asked for it, but my DH was going to do it anyway. Fingers crossed i get a good set, no scratches, dents, or detergent tray that does not hang on the front corner which this one does. THEN, i will be in laundry heaven!!!!

Texas - come on up during art fair - I can take you to their booth. Accommodations are inexpensive but the art is not! Anna - sorry I missed you. I am sure I missed a few others as well. I tried to re-create all of the kitchens and the handles but my brain is still on overload. Four - I go in spurts in hanging out. I am back for awhile but will level off. I know that I am still TKO when I am riding my bicycle and the awful MI asphalt roads pattern into a backsplash idea! LOL I think we helped each other along the way.

decorating, even though i lack a style. I love looking here at everyone's beautiful homes. i still love my solid oak, countryish dining room set, one of our first investments as a married couple. I've replaced some of my furnishings as my tastes and styles changed. the oak set doesnt really "go" anymore w/ the rest of my house. but i love how heavy the chairs are, lol. i love my curio (do people still have these in newer homes?) and the memories it holds. i love the memories of all our family dinners. I love dusting it and remembering how the scratches got there. in our current home, we switched the living and dining room, got rid of the carpet in both and put in wood floors. the former dining room is now a much needed "den", and the former living room is now our dining room. i love it because for big dinners, we expand into the den. Just looking at my dining room as i come in our front door, makes me feel happy. in the curio, is, yes, a family picture. it's my husband's grandmother wearing her mink stole. behind the picture is a bear my sister-in-law had made from that stole. I love looking at these things....
Looking at the pics, i sorely need drapes and something on the walls next to the hutch, but I've never been able to decide on anything, so they've been bare for 15 years while I search for just the right thing. Haha, that's the game i guess..and it has no end..

Nice to see so many mulch lovers out there! (Hopefully no one has the red stuff. That would be on the dislike post for me.) That is actually an old picture. I usually get my mulch in early summer/late spring. It does take me about a week to get it done because I like to hoe in the old mulch first. It does make the beds look so much better.

Rosesstink, I forgot about tablecloths! I think it's because I love how textiles adds that homey/comfy feel I crave.

Although I have a nice DR table, I still use tablecloths for the seasons. It does go nekkid at times. :)

I just took my summer "french country" tablecloth off which had a white background with navy, red and green print. Very summery!

Yesterday I received my new Fall/Winter tablecloth which is a deep burgandy with black roosters on it. You can't tell they are roosters until you get up close. Not only do I have my fall/winter tablecloth, it will also serve as a Christmas tablecloth. First it needs ironing. Ugh.

Long live tablecloths, table runners, table toppers, placemats and napkins!! lol

kitchenkelly, I am obsessed with mulch. We have a large yard with ever expanding beds and mulching is an on going activity. I'm not trying to 'one up you or top your story" but mulch is near and dear to my heart. I would be happy with mulch as a birthday present.
I can unload three (large) pick up truck loads of mulch -that I hauled- in one day before I give out. It takes longer to spread it, but your pile, makes me happy but also makes me laugh. It's tiny.

I must confess. Regarding burlap, I only have two items presently - a burlap table runner and a burlap Christmas stocking that I copied last year from a blog, magazine - something. Burlap with a vintage rhinestone brooch and a piece of vintage lace. It's used as a Christmas decoration. Both these items are a creme color burlap.

Just the other day I ordered (Etsy) a burlap lumbar pillow cover and today I found another one with a looped ribbon trim. I didn't realize I love burlap LOL.

Oh I take that back - I have one other item - I made three burlap roses for the fall wreath I have up right now.

    Love2weed,

THAT's THEM!! I have the same ones! But I only have September and March. September a girl, March a boy. My Nan's birthday was in September, as is mine, and one of her siblings March, as is my sister's. I put them away years ago and gave them very little thought. I always loved them b/c they were from her, and she was so special to me. She had very little worldly posessions, so the few items I have, I truly cherish. Thanks for the reminder, I think it's time they came out of hiding.

    Sorry to hijack.

I like the look of pine straw but it doesn't nourish the soil the way wood mulch does. I get it from the county and it's $10.60 a scoop and that includes tax. One front end loader scoop way overflows our large pick up truck.

It is a mixture of hard and soft wood double ground.
It smells so good and helps keep me fit. I am careful with my back though.

I usually unload it onto tarps then spread at leisure.

I cannot believe there are two other people who love gravel driveways!

I love real dining rooms like Massagerock's. That furniture is beautiful. It could be used as an example on the "less discernment = blanket 'dislike' thread. People think they don't like oak furniture because there's lots of junky examples it it. Oak furniture was not invented in the 1980s.

Natal, I mentioned before (I think) that we use pine straw. I prefer the look. We also amend.

Here in this part of the hot, humid south, where termites are rampant, we are advised not to use wood mulch - at least not up near a house.

I am not an inexperienced gardener by any means but I have many areas to mulch. I trench the edges and keep everything looking sharp and one deep layer of mulch every so often will enrich the soil over time. In my oldest areas, the soil is dark and like butter- from originally compacted red clay.

We have a good, half acre pine grove I could gather pine straw from, but to me, pine straw doesn't have good moisture retentive qualities ( essential to me) and breaks down too fast.

  • natal

BB, not disputing your gardening knowledge; just saying I prefer pine straw. I like that it stays in place in heavy rains, it's soft underfoot (I use it in pathways) and although it breaks down it's easy to renew. You have to be careful with bark mulch. It can cause an imbalance in soil makeup unlike pine straw.
