Nice kitchen! Where do you store you're Boos cart when not in use?

I'm also Class of 2012, but my kitchen is more in the budget facelift category. I do want to say that adding new doors to old boxes worked out very well for me, and the paint looks about the same as it did the day they were installed. Although I would change things next time, esp. going with a light counter over dark, I don't regret a thing.

This was the year we started dreaming about the kitchen during an exterior remodel and I came to GW to hang out full time. I'm like the drop-out who keeps having to take remedial classes over Summer but can't catch up!

I still love this kitchen. I remember the drawer thing vividly and I love all the drawers in this kitchen - and the his and her section. The floor still looks great from here.

I gotta say, though, it's pretty demoralizing to learn that every appliance has needed some kind of service in that period of time. And, they were not cheap appliances. It just makes me really question spending good money on what seem like increasingly disposable items... I've never had nice appliances, but you know what? I've never, ever had one break - even in all my years as a renter with old appliances in the kitchens. Bleh.

We mostly finished ours by September of 2010, although only finally got the pendant lights we wanted in January of the following year. DH found GW after most of our decisions were made and pretty much set in concrete (actually soapstone, to be exact). In fact, it was researching soapstone that led us to GW.

I connected with a2 in 2013 after following her remodel and noticing we had some things in common: she has cherry shaker cabs; her dishes (in the failed drawer) were the same as ours (Botanica by Villeroy and Boch); she is (was?) a pediatric PT, and she loves to cross-country ski. It was wonderful to meet her and her DH in the fall of that year as they were going on a bike trip and passing through our area (we live in the Pacific NW and they're in the midwest).

We probably would have done a few things differently in our kitchen with the help of GW, but in almost all ways, I love how everything looks and how improved our entire space is functionally. It's funny to remember 5 years ago-our demo started 5/10/2010.

We're not quite 2 years in our new kitchen, but the novelty has not even begun to wear off. Practically every day I'll open a drawer, or put something away in exactly the right place, and think "This is my favorite thing in the new kitchen!" Apparently my favorite thing is whatever I happen to be using at the moment.

I did my own design - based on knowing exactly what I did not like in the old kitchen - and didn't find GW until late in the game. While I did a few things that most GWers would not do in their own kitchen, there really isn't anything that I would change if I did it again today.

I'm so glad you posted, A2. 2012 was not a good year for me so I'm pretty sure I missed your reveal. I've only seen snippets of it (your dish drawer, for instance) so it's nice to see what I missed before!

meris - I initially planned to put a smaller one in my pantry(with folding sides) but then I found the Boos. If fits between my kitchen and my sunroom. It is great as I can move it to wherever I need it. Tonight it is by the oven and I have a pizza ready to pop in the oven. The oven is chiming so hope to finish the post first - otherwise, I will be back to finish.

Linelle - yes, sorry I missed you. I was trying to remember everyone but I am sure I missed others - some might even be my favs.

Wait, your Miele DW had issues already? I'm with steph2000, that is pretty demoralizing, especially since I had hoped that if I pulled the trigger and spent the money on a Miele DW, I'd be buying peace of mind and a long-lived appliance.

Lisa- no worries- the filter lid wasn't staying closed. They gave me a whole new filter assembly. It is 5 years old as it was a re-use item. I think the new DW have a 5 year warranty. I initially had a lemon Miele that bit the dust prematurely. It was the only appliance that I purchased an extended warranty. They refunded my entire purchase price at 4.5 years. It was really an incompetent service company that caused the problem. They lost their agreement with Miele so now I get Miele factory service. I wasn't going to purchase another Miele but after researching it came down to the Miele and Bosch. My dishes fit in Miele and glad I decided to go Miele again.

Your experience with a lemon Miele reminds me of what my parents went through with my mom's Toyota Cressida. It was in the shop all. the. time. That's not what one expects from Toyota but even great companies are going to produce a lemon now and then.

Lisa- yup but less of a chance with the Miele and Bosch than some others. One DW company had a 25% repair rate compared 8% for the Miele.

Yes, hang in there, Boops! (I can't imagine. I'm ready for it to be over and we're only in week 3).

I think I need to add 2littleFishies as an honorary member of the class of 2012. She didn't reveal until early 2013 but close enough. Her kitchen is awesome bi just love the shade of yellow. It makes me smile every time I see it.

I can't believe it was so long ago.

My kitchen and style has never been the latest trend but at this point I feel like when/if I ever do a reveal it is going to seem so passé!!

Our 3rd kitchen anniversary here as well. It's been on my mind lately. We are remodeling 3 (crazy!!) bathrooms at once, and are living in our open kitchen-living room. Has been bringing back memories of those months where we converted a bathroom into a makeshift kitchen. (Forgetting my GW name...think it was AnnaA.) I still love visiting this site!

Happy anniversary, a2!! I can't believe it's been 3 years. Your kitchen is only improving with age, and it was born gorgeous. Love the decorative glass and Boos cart! You were such a help during my kitchen reno, and I'm so glad to "see" you here again! I don't seem to hang out here as much as I used to, because the next two years are all about the yard. There's always something, right?!

Texas - come on up during art fair - I can take you to their booth. Accommodations are inexpensive but the art is not!

Anna - sorry I missed you. I am sure I missed a few others as well. I tried to re-create all of the kitchens and the handles but my brain is still on overload.

Four - I go in spurts in hanging out. I am back for awhile but will level off. I know that I am still TKO when I am riding my bicycle and the awful MI asphalt roads pattern into a backsplash idea! LOL I think we helped each other along the way.
