Very pretty room so far. I recognize the bedding from PBteen. Have you checked their website for inspiration? I think either choice is fine, though with any panels, it looks like you would need to move the dresser you've placed between the two windows. One advantage of the chocolate drapes is that they would be more room darkening. Another option would be to go with the dotted sheers to echo the bedding. I checked the website and they have white with chocolate dots (even on sale!) which you could layer with a chocolate roller shade. I wonder if you could paint the shades you have now with fabric paint. You can echo the same WTs' over the closet area as well.

I know you didn't ask about room layout, but if you do opt for panels, I'd suggest placing her bed between the two windows with the nightstand off to the side. As it looks like the desk and bookcases are part of a unit, I was wondering why you split them up? It would seem more functional to group them together on the long wall where the bed is now, though perhaps there is not enough clearance. I have 3 kids, two high school age and I find it very practical to have a nice study area with plenty of desk space and shelving nearby.

Pretty room and I must say I am partial to the colors having only recently done both of my two DD's room in varying shades of aqua (one like you did it, the older one more of a turquoise).

Thank you Val. I missed the dottie sheers. I like the idea of bringing some pattern up the walls. The media unit is actually slightly off white (the perils of online shopping) and would clash if set against the bright white shelves. DD requested that her bed be positioned against the wall to provide more floor space. She & her friends enjoy card games, board games & puzzles and this arrangement gives them plenty of room to gather around. I was considering a round espresso coffee table with ottomans underneath that they could use. Ideally, I'd turn the bed perpendicular to the wall but I'm happy to accommodate her simple request.

I don't see anything wrong with chocolate colored drapes and since that's what DD likes, I think I would go with that.

For the closet door you might consider a Natural Drape. It is a new product for closet doors or large windows. They come in a variety of colors and materials and also in matching window shades. You can see them at greenbaliblinds.com.

For her closet door - which she asked to be removed, my DD chose a pair of white sheers that puddled slightly on the floor. With big holdbacks screwed into the inside of each side of the door to hold the curtains when she is perusing what to wear. ( we know how long that takes.) They were simple,inexpensive and matched the white sheers that she chose for over the white faux wooden blinds. It makes the closet recede rather than drawing attention.And she loves how they just sweep elegantly aside out of the way.
My DD's room is a pale peach- definitely not a color I would choose- but she will always remember how cool her room was( she graduated from college in spring '10.

I think the coffee dottie SHEETS would look good hanging in there. Would have to buy 2 sets possibly but they would match the bedding. (These are the brown sheets with white dots in them. they are on sale too! You could even make valances out of them. You could turn the bed against the windows, which would hide the area below the sill and still have sill length curtains...

I ordered the dottie sheers & brown panels for the windows and closet area. I thought I'd use one brown panel on each window, pulled to the outside & held with a tie back (to avoid the dresser) along with a dottie sheer. Same treatment on the closet. Previously, I used different treatments for the windows & closet and it never felt right. If the panels & dots seem to be too much, I'll try plain sheers on the closet. I think I may already have some that may be the right length! Thanks everyone for your responses!!

That sounds like a nice combination. I agree it will look more cohesive to do similar treatments for both windows and closet. Please post pics when it is complete.
