Please show me your bedroom ceiling light fixture
Comments (25)In our master bedroom, we did a ceiling fan. The light is so dim on this that I never turned it on. In addition to this, we also have 4 cans. Again, I never turn them on. We have a lamp on each nightstand that we use to read at night. However, I LOVE the ceiling fan. It really moves the air in the room and makes sleeping all the more pleasant. (This from the biggest anti ceiling fan person in the world, go figure.) The pic was taken so during construction so it isn't boo-tiful, but you see the light failry well....See MoreHelp me pick a master bedroom ceiling light
Comments (25)I'd keep sepia [?] going, and not add black, the darker option, cause to me it competes with it, and sorta squashes its softness. This might do that, and add headboard's warmth.... nice photo - you and yours? :) [https://www.houzz.com/products/lite-source-ls-22445l-amb-dillian-transitional-table-lamp-prvw-vr~13386237[(https://www.houzz.com/products/lite-source-ls-22445l-amb-dillian-transitional-table-lamp-prvw-vr~13386237)...See MoreWall mounted or table lamps in master bedroom?
Comments (8)Guess I'm just curious if there are any downsides other than the question of what happens if you end up moving the bed or using the room in a different way. I have always love this look but my DH seems to be drawn to table lamps. We won't have much room for side tables in this master bedroom, so I figure installing wall mounted lamps makes more sense in that regard....See MoreAre bedroom ceiling lights outdated ?
Comments (4)Sorry but I think this is one of those areas where many decorators get carried away with "decorating" and relegate function to a secondary consideration. When you walk into a bedroom and want it lit, you need light, not mood ambiance. As with most rooms, there are different lighting requirements at different times for bedrooms. It varies of course with the size of the room, but it can take a fair number of wall mounted fixtures to provide enough light for an adequately lit room, compared to what can be done with just one (or more, for a large room) overhead fixture(s). Because most wall and table lamps don't give off enough light covering a large enough area. The ones that do are harsh to see because they're low. Times of lower lighting circumstances are easily covered by a mixture of floor, table and wall mounted lights. There are many attractive non-flush ceiling fixtures available that are stylish yet don't look like chandeliers. Recessed cans can also be useful. In the end, it's a matter of personal preference but I think it's a mistake in decorating to not give function a high priority. I see it too often, especially in kitchens....See More- 12 years ago
