Pretty room! I have a similarly arched headboard, however, my arrangement would not work with your style so I have no ideas as to what to put over the bed but looking at the room makes me think something small and rectangular ( to pick up the rectangles in the bedside tables and the front of the bed).
I don't think you need another pillow, it all works as is.

I would look for a great painting in a horizontal orientation, or use a pretty mirror if there Is something worth reflecting opposite the bed.

Somewhere I have seen a butter yellow mohair throw... Will try to remember where. I have two pink mohair throws in DDs room that I bought on Amazon (Belle Epoch) that were only $100 each. They are good quality, but not fine, which is ok for that room and the two pooches who like to "nest" in them.

Would you consider this throw, or is there too much blue in in it?

Not sure why, perhaps they feel too casual or just not elegant enough, but I am not loving the patterned pillows. I would be more inclined to eliminate those and add a single round or rectangular pillow in front.

As for over the bed, I would like to see something wide, but not very tall, a long narrow rectangle. I think preferably a piece of framed art, rather than a sculpture or mirror.

Thank you all for your advice. Sounds like the consensus is to go with something wide and rectangular over the bed. I don't think a mirror would work as there is nothing to reflect. As far as the pillows are concerned, I did not think they were casual at all. What attracted me to them is it had the gray, yellow and taupe in it along with texture and a pattern to play off the solids. The paisley pillow is nice but not my style. If I could ind a butter yellow solid throw I would be happy with the look.

I'd go with something metal before a single art piece. Or two smaller art pieces. You seem to enjoy symmetry so I'm not sure that anything else would be pleasing to you (but I could be completely wrong).

My headboard is metal, and curves the opposite way, like a smile. I currently have two framed pieces hanging, and every time I see it, it makes me think of :)

I wouldn't do a mirror - as you said no reflection (which I wouldn't have known) but because your nightstands are mirrored. Though I might consider prints behind the lamps.

A vote for a starburst or sunburst mirror .... yes ... I do really think that it would look amazing with the mirrored night stands! ...... :)

I would be inclined to fairly minimal up there, and nothing too predictable. I'd be tempted to go fairly small with 1 or 3 repeating prints. (You could even think about mounting prints on canvas board with photo corners instead of going with the more expected frames).

I think one of the best sources for artwork is Esty - vintage prints or shadowboxes or watercolors - there are so many great choices on there. And it can be unique, something that reflects what you love.

Laura, I believe it was you who previously shared "Dimdi's" work here. After I went to Etsy to see more of her work, I ended up with two cat watercolors and I absolutely adore them. She captures the sweetness of animals in a very real way. (I'm also longing after one of her dear little squirrel paintings at the moment. ;-))

Do you live anywhere that ever gets earthquakes? If so, you should not put anything up there that could fall on your head. We have a small quilt stapled to the wall above the bed in one of our bedrooms and nothing above the others. I don't think your bed really needs anything there, but if you must, how about art painted/stenciled on the wall? Or a stick-on wall graphic?

No we don't live in an earthquake prone area. What inspires us when it comes to art is scenes from nature (mountains etc) for a serene look.

I love the zen feel of this although it's probably not wide enough and I fear it's too complex but this is the kind of feel I would like to achieve.

francoise, I am glad you like their site. I didn't say anything in the initial post but if you look on Sierra Trading post web site they have some of their products and at a VERY reduced price. That is where I first learned about them. I have purchased so much from STP over the years and am always pleased. They are having a very nice sale today at STP and you can register to get email notices, which is what I do. I got a Peacock Alley cotton blanket for $27 , usually $76 , last week !

I probably would not put a mirror up there - only because of your nightstands having the mirrored finish. Maybe a decal verse would look nice and serene.

I would like something above the bed, but I think I'd prefer a grouping of 2 or 3 paintings or prints or a triptych to a single short and wide image. Maybe it's just the feel of looking out a high slit window that doesn't seem master BR cozy to me.

The same artist as the one you posted does a triptych and since they are custom, you could get the size and colors you like -- send her the photo of your room and let her help you chose the colors to work perfectly in there (maybe some silver highlights to play off the nightstands without adding more mirror and softer contrasts than the one you posted).

One other thing I thought about was Sticks and Stones. They do architectural photography series to create name or word of your choice. You have multiple options for each letter. I did our last name for DH at Christmas and was very happy with it. I put the link below for you.

The square pillows are good colors, but the pattern seems a bit strong. Not terrible and may become more balanced with art on the wall and a throw on the bed, so I wouldn't rush to change, especially if you like them. The paisley pillows have great colors and softer lines, but they are still a bit bold for the room I think you are trying to put together. You have a beautiful room as it is, so take your time and find the perfect finishing touches. Any art should speak to you; especially when you see it everyday, you want it to mean more than a place filler. I have no doubt you will find something or have something created just for you.

Wishing I hadn't seen the art on Etsy -- I want and I don't have any bare walls. If anything, I have one or two too many things to hang since we moved my dad recently. Which reminds me of what I should be doing.....

When it comes to art, I don't think you can hurry it. It is not like other details in the room. I would just keep my eye open and not rush.

As far as what to put over the bed, ya know, everything doesn't have to be so formal. A tree branch that echoes the curve of the headboard and has a feathery (branchy) end, would look great.
I have a short wall in our living room that has an abalone shell hung on a nail. Neither expensive ($3) or difficult yet it looks great and many people have complimented it and it picks up the colors of the nearby lamp beautifully.

The bunch of dried hydrangeas that I pick annually for the dining room pitcher is a show stopper.

I thought of the same thing Suzanne mentioned---earthquakes! We do live in an earthquake prone area, so it was on my mind when I hung something over the bed. I know you said you don't worry about earthquakes where you live, but if anyone else is reading this who might have some concerns, I found some artwork that I liked that was available both as regular framed art or on canvas. The canvas, even with the trim, is very light, so I felt comfortable hanging it over the bed.

The solid might be too gold. You could contact them about a swatch of that color. I was thinking more along the lines of the pretty blanket that had a stripe on one side and the linen on the other...unfortunately LOTS of others were thinking about it too..I see they are all gone :(. You can check back periodically on STP and see what else they get from that company...I plan to. Meantime you could get the one from STP and return if you don't care for the color..they have a very liberal return policy and not expensive for postage. c

Yes, I will take my time with the art. In the meantime, I'll work on window treatments. Thinking of doing white cotton/linen mix. Pottery Barn Peyton drapes look nice. In addition, have to add some height to the bed. It's sits on euro slats, but it is bad on my back when making the bed. Suggestions on whether a 2" bunky board or 5" low profile foundation would be better taken into consideration the bedding I have?
