Sounds very pretty, I'm a big fan of Solatubes, frosted glass, and pocket doors. But: we stayed in a hotel recently with a frosted glass door to the bathroom. My sweet husband gently informed me that, when it's dark in the bedroom and light in the bathroom, there isn't much privacy. At all. So there's that.

I have a pocket door between the bedroom and dressing room and also between the WC and the rest of the bathroom. When I use them, it's mostly to block light from getting into the bedroom and disturbing the one left sleeping. Also, solid wood doors block sound more effectively than ones with glass.

Good point about wood doors blocking sound more effectively. (Do you know how wood compares to MDF in that regard?) We bought a really quiet bath fan, so that won't mask any sounds one might not want to have overheard.

So, beyond the cost and delay, I might actually prefer solid doors for the light blocking and privacy.

I don't know how the scientifically measured sound ratings differ for wood versus MDF, but I'm guessing that they aren't that different. However, I do know that a solid door will block more sound than a hollow-core door.

Solid doors for exactly the reasons stated....blocking light and most of all privacy.

I just did a little research and it looks like MDF is comparable to wood. I would not buy hollow-core doors. I'm not sure how it works out with recessed panel doors, since the panels are thinner than the rest of the door.

We used doors with "white" glass inserts throughout a recent remodel. The doors are very similar to your first picture. Although frosted and textures can be transparent, white glass is not. But it does allow light through in a lovely, even glow.

I love my doors. Okay, love might be a strong word. But I'm extremely happy about the choice, and many visitors have commented on how beautiful they are.
