We have paned glass pocket doors between our kitchen and living room. So far they are surviving our 22-month old "helping" but keep in mind that they are used a lot less than a bathroom door will be used.

I don't think that they are any more fragile than an all wood pocket door. There's a rubber stop in the wall, so its hard to damage them unless you are really trying hard to deliberately slam it. The thing you have to look out for is pushing on the closed door rather than sliding it open. Also, we purchased pocket door hardware and just ordered regular doors of the the right thickness to go with it. IIRC, the doors are just basic 10-light doors from TM Cobb, and we stained them ourselves.

Oooh, I don't know where you get those, but I want one for my bathroom too!! I love the frosted glass in it! Thanks for bringing this up. Now I'll sit and patiently wait for responses... :)

Mine is from Simpson door... there are lots of choices for glass. I live alone so didn't need to worry about totally opaque glass.

I could be mistaken, since I was not looking for this particular item, but I think I saw several on display at local HD.

ALKU - I had no clue you could just buy the pocket door hardware and use a regular door. That may be a way to get the door with the contractors discount if it is the same door as the rest of the house and bought in bulk. Then we would just need to put the glass panels in and frost.

fiveunderfive, mine is just a simpson french door with the decorative glass option; my contractor bought the sliding door hardware separately and installed it. It is not a whole "sliding door package". Not sure if that was clear or not.

For a full bath I'd want tempered glass in that door, but maybe you aren't as klutzy as I am. :)

I am not sure if you are looking for the kit (frame) or the door itself, but I just installed a Johnson Hardware pocket door kit for our master bathroom. If you are looking for a nice Pocket door frame, I highly recommend the Johnson Hardware door kit. They offer multiple sizes of openings and they can also be cut down. You can also get them for a 2x4 or 2x6 wall. They come with steel wrapped studs for reinforcement and a easy install header. I just bought the 1500 series 36" x 80" kit for like $95 bucks, then buy the door slab of your choice. They are a little more expensive then the kits at HD, but are so much better, not just pine stapled together. They also sell ball bearing rollers to accommodate a heavier door. The standard frame is for a 1 3/8" door but they offer a 1 3/4" adapter. This gives you so many options for doors. I love this kit!!! I would recommend the ball bearing rollers for a solid core door.

We have two pocket doors in our home. One was installed when the house was built and one I just retrofitted. We have a 15 lite solid pine door in one and plan a frosted door in the master. We love them. If you are interested I can take a picture of the kit I just put in as I have not finished sheet-rocking the opening yet.

Writersblock, my door glass is tempered. I think it is code that glass that close to the floor (I think 18" or is it 24" is the minimum) must be tempered.

I don't have glass but, I have several pocket doors in our current build. The GC ordered pocket door hardware and then just ordered standard doors(not in a frame) to match our other interior doors and hung them on the pocket doot hardware.

As stated above, that gives you sooo many options.

The HD doors we bought aren't the best quality. The frost is fine, it's the sanding that's bad, they aren't smooth.. there are deep dips. It might not show up as much on a stained door but ours are painted dark brown/black. No one has noticed but I know it's there!

We also used Johnson Hardware and this summer I'm going to replace all of our other pocket doors with new tracks and rollers. Huge difference, not too expensive and easy to do.

Just for comparison, the Simpson door shown in my post above is really great quality and perfect. Clear fir, flawless and so is the glass. It was pricey, but a real pleasure to see pride in craftmanship - made in usa, too. It's really heavy and slides like a dream. I'm getting new Simpson double French doors installed soon and am hoping they are equally nice. I contacted the company to make sure they are usa made...they told me some bulk orders come from china, (I'm assuming that is big box store type orders) but you can get your door made in their McCleary WA factory if you specify it and there is no upcharge.
