It does look great in your kitchen and I just love that idea : ) Definitely too high. I'm thinking shelves might be nice there and that placed on one. You could also do a vertical series, but with the placemats being about the same size ...

Maybe you could mount it on something else to make the whole piece larger. Or add two other items for a collage of something.

Your kitchen looks lovely but I agree, you need color. Have you considered wall color? If you're not able to paint, with your neutral floor, tables & chairs and countertop, you could add a lot of pizzaz with some chair cushions and a table runner. I agree the picture is too small there. Perhaps a grouping of pics would work? Or maybe a plate display mounted on the wall? Lots of possibilities, just play around a little more.

Yes, looks a bit out of scale for the area. I like squirrel's idea about putting shelves between both cabinets. Then you could add the pic on the shelf with an easel and add other decorative items to bring color to your kitchen.

What if I put a smaller red vase underneath?? How could I do a collage? Where could I add some pics?? At the bottom??

Reframe it with a bulkier frame - 2" or so - to give it some more "oomph". I think the skinny little stainless frame gets lost against the white wall. I'd have used a wider black frame for contrast, and because your appliances are black and stainless combined it will look fine especially since it looks like there's some black in the print too.) I'm not sure there's space available for a mat as well but here's a test. Cut some paper strips 4" wide - 2" is a good width for a mat - and tape them up around the print to see if it looks too crowded between the cabinets. If it does, push 1" of the paper back behind the print to see if a 2" mat plus a 1" frame would work. A light-colored mat that picks up a color in the print would be what you want, because a white mat would make it look like the frame and print were floating independently of one another. But if you don't want to use a mat (and some people don't), you've really got to get a much gutsier frame on there.

I do think it belongs where you can see it every single day and remember your husband's great-grandfather, so it's a good placement. If there's ANY chance you might have a picture of you and him, or even better you and your husband and him, I'd blow it up to a 5x7 or 8x10 and hang it below this print, I think it will bring a smile to your face as well as occupy some of the blank area.

I was playing with an arrangement, but ended up here, I think due to the size of the picture. I'm liking something like this -- using the flowers of the pic for a botanical and adding a shelf/vase for a forever bouquet : ) I used two bunches and overlaid a portion. Would it look ok from the side? Haven't tried it, one would have to play : ) If the picture itself is composed nicely, in itself, why not.

Maybe you could place an empty frame around the whole piece. These ledge shelves are usually found at Pottery Barn and a few other places.

I think the metallic frame is great, but it would look better a little lower and with a mat for more substance as squirrelheaven has shown.

I so so appreciate all of your feedback and the pretend pics that you have shown. I went to purchase a black frame this afternoon. What do you think. By the way I love the idea of the shelf. It really brings the picture out.

I like squirrelhaven's first idea with the shelf and picture- very creative! Then you can go from there with color for the rest of your kitchen. I would pick out some cute colorful fabric and make chair cushions. I agree with the other comments about painting your kitchen when it can be in your budget.

I used a colored matt and bolder frame and a bit of color in the vase (which I made a bit more squatty, but I like the size of yours off to the side), put some colorful cookbooks on the counter with the vase, added some more fruit to the bowl on your table, made your sponge and towel on the stove match your flowers.

Just added those branches for vavoom.. They are beautiful flowers. He lives in France and I loved him the first time I met him.

He lives in the mountains by himself in a house that was built in the 1700's. He has this peace and serenity about him.

Oh, who isn't making mistakes! I'm the queen of em! Be thankful that it asn't anything major...I love the wall of cabinetry...and just now see the changes...looks great!

The other thing you could do is make another copy and change the flower colors in Photoshop. You could make 3 or 4 of them.
