Disappointed So Far
Comments (6)Glad to hear that others use the sweetpotato vine. I put out 3 plants to see if they'd do anything up here. In Mobile, last year I put them in a new bed to help shade it, and they ran everywhere, tried to cross the street, went up the rose bushes, etc. In the winter after we went back south, I saw the vines all withered away. Pulling them out was enlightening--they all had HUGE PURPLE TUBERS. Those potatos survived and before we returned north in May, they were already growing again. My neighbor who looks after the house said she had to pull them out of the rose bushes again. Up here, they are doing okay under the blueberry bushes which gets only a few hours of sunlight. I love the chartreuse color against the red mulch. We'll see if they make taters up here. No evidence of insects though. I found licorice plants at Parlee's Nursery and got 3 little pots. I am amazed at the beauty and vigor of this plant, which is totally new to me. I'm very fond of gray leaves. I like to use gray leaves, variegated leaves, or white blooming plants, next to walkways to outline them in the twilight hours and make it easier to walk without artificial lighting. In shady areas late in the day, the whiteness allows me to appreciate another aspect of my garden too. Licorice is a plant I'll be trying down south, and maybe in a hanging basket....See Moregreat anticipation; great disappointment; a month's delay
Comments (4)I am so sorry this has happened. I can only offer my empathy/sympathy having had similar situations with our master bath remodel. It's true that in the scheme of life it's small but then again it's also stressful and a lot of trouble that seems could have been avoided. It seems that the mistakes and poor quality in our bathroom remodel are causing me more upset as time goes by as more poor workmanship comes to light some additional failures have surfaced. There is nothing we can do about it except tear it out and start over. Some of the things are not fixable such as how the radiant heat was installed and the faux granite seams in the shower, the defective and poorly installed tile, the gloppy silicone. Now that it's cold it's irritating that the floor wasn't installed properly. I actually feel more stressed and upset about it as time goes on. We thought we were going with a reputable company but they are a franchise company more suitable for house flipping and lied about their capabilities. Sadly we believed them. They charge top dollar and we cannot easily recover from such a large monetary outlay to correct the mistakes. I really hope that you can get this resolved and I am so sorry it happened (((((big hugs)))))!!!...See MoreSo, so upset with major purchase
Comments (150)UPDATE: So I received an answer from the owner of the store who is hanging with the manufacturer in the USA right now. He brought the furniture back to the builder and discussed the issues I had with it. He explained his policy as this is custom ordered, not just taken from a shelf. They have never sold this set as painted before, they cannot give a refund until they try to solve the issues with the product. The painter was different from the builder and had the builder seen it it wouldn't have passed inspection. So the owner and manufacturer are proposing that when the owner goes down to the US again at the end of October, he will bring back beautiful furniture that is painted by the manufacturer who has experience painting kitchen cabs and will be inspected by the owner of the manufacture company. Then before it is delivered to our house, we will go to the store to inspect it. So they have my 4K and I'm not getting furniture for another 2 months. So now what? It's not just the finishing, cross bars were cracked and the backs were hacked (as per the pics!). It sounds like they will fix the cosmetic stuff, but I don't know. I just have such a bad taste in my mouth about this whole thing now. The owner of the local store says he is in the US and doesn't get internet most of the time, so I can contact him next week. Do you think I have enough to open a formal dispute with the cc company, or because they are trying to fix it I'm stuck with it? THANK you for all your advice and wisdom!...See MoreOwners of frameless full overlay cabs - Q?I am not happy...
Comments (9)My brother has full overlay and his doors are quite tight. I certainly don't see any cabinet interior from the outside. I know someone else who bought some cabinets (probably from Lowes) and there's a flap on the inside of one cabinet door to cover the gap. I would be highly irritated by such a flap because then you have to close one door before the other and can't open the flap door by itself. So I do believe you can get doors close together with no/minimal visible gap, but maybe not all cabinet makers and/or installers do it. I think it's very reasonable to ask your cabinet installer about it. Hopefully it's just a door adjustment as was suggested....See Morephoggie
