Restoring Pine Front door and need advice

I am working on restoring the front door on my house built in 1919. I had the pine door stripped of the many layers of paint and am planing to have beveled glass installed in 4 of the 6 wood panels. Someone suggested that I coat the door with Linseed oil to help preserve the wood and put back the moisture that was stripped out of it when I had it dipped. I am planning to prime and paint the door, and someone else advised me NOT to oil the door because the primer would not then sink in and adhere to the door. Can anybody tell me the right answer to this? I am in the process of sanding and need to paint this weekend. Using oil base primer and paint. Thanks
